If you’re a regular at The Kings Arms Hotel you may well recognise this guitar. It belongs to one of Wilmslow’s hardest working, busiest guitar players. Jon is a member of local bands , as well as being the driving force behind the monthly Blues and Roots music night at the Kings Arms, and a regular at Open Mic night! His bands play all over the North West as well!!
This guitar is a very, very special one. You probably haven’t seen one of these before! It’s a St Blues, made in Nashville USA, where Jon and his family have visited many times. It’s a Les Paul outline, with Telecaster controls, body carves like a strat, a string through hardtail 6 saddle bridge, an HSS pickup configuration and a bolt on maple neck with a dark rosewood fingerboard. The beautifully figured Ash body shows its grain through a lovely, glossy, transparent crimson finish, which is set off by the binding. What a corker! Shame it’s the wrong way round for me to play!
It came on for its first ever service and setup, and a report of noisy volume and tone pots. No surprise really when you consider how much this guitar gets played! Any gigging guitar will
Suffer the same - basically, it’s sweat from the fingers that gets into the potentiometer. An easy fix with some contact cleaner. It’s also had a full fret check, polish, relief adjustment (truss rod), fret board clean and oil and a body polish! Good to go. Keep an eye out for it at a venue near you!
