🌟 Celebrating International Waffle Day with a Healthy Twist! 🌟

As a health practitioner, I believe that nourishing your body is just as important as nourishing your mind—especially around hectic lifestyles. That's why I'm sharing one of my favourite healthy waffle recipes to celebrate International Waffle Day today, just to prove that nutrition doesn't have to be boring! šŸ½ļøšŸ’Ŗ

These waffles are not only delicious but also packed with ingredients that won't cause inflammation. Also, as someone with gluten ataxia, where if I have the tiniest speck of gluten it can cause brain damage, I'm passionate about getting gluten free recipes out there. My balance, coordination and memory were affected for over half a lifetime and I never knew it was because of gluten!

šŸ”¹ The Key to a Healthy, Productive Day:
Start your morning with a wholesome breakfast with some good quality protein in there. This fuels your body without the sugar crash, keeping your energy levels high and your mood positive all day long!

Check out the recipe below, and let’s chat about how I can help you feel like your old self again 🌱

Here's to feeling great and not having to sacrifice all the foods you love šŸ™Œ

Bloating after meals.

Constant fatigue.

Eczema that flares up randomly.

A runny nose only when you eat certain foods.

Most people think problems with certain foods always show up as a dramatic, throat-closing allergic type reaction. But that’s not the case.

Delayed food intolerances can cause all sorts of sneaky, low-grade symptoms that get dismissed as ā€œjust how I am.ā€

Here’s what that can look like:

🚩 Bloating or stomach pain after eating

🚩 Skin issues like eczema, rosacea, or hives

🚩 Ongoing sinus congestion or a post-meal runny nose

🚩 Fatigue that never really lifts

🚩 Brain fog, mood swings, or low energy

🚩 Joint pain or body aches with no clear reason

If any of these sound familiar, it could be your body reacting to something you’re eating every single day.

But if you don’t know what’s triggering it, you end up stuck in a cycle of symptoms with no obvious cause.

What can you do?

āœ… Start tracking your symptoms – notice patterns in what you eat and how you feel.

āœ… Look beyond the usual suspects – dairy and gluten are big ones, but eggs, nuts, soy, and even certain fruits can be triggers.

āœ… Get the right testing – food intolerance testing can help, but an elimination diet (done properly) is often the best way to pinpoint hidden triggers.

āœ… Find the cause and support your gut health – because often, food reactions start when your gut isn’t working as it should. For me, it's more important to identify the cause with the right test than to do a food intolerance test. The food intolerance test is the symptom - we want to deal with the cause.

If you’ve been living with annoying but ā€œnormalā€ symptoms for years, maybe it’s time to ask: Is this actually normal… or is it my body trying to tell me something?

Drop me a message if this resonates - I’d love to help you get to the bottom of it.

IBS can be brutal.

One minute you’re fine, the next your stomach’s in knots, you’re bloated like a balloon, and you don’t know whether you need a hot water bottle or a one-way ticket to the bathroom.

Here’s what actually helps when a flare-up hits:

1. Grab a hot water bottle and place it on your stomach. It relaxes your gut muscles and eases cramping. Simple, but it works.

2. Dehydration makes IBS symptoms worse. Stick to warm water or herbal teas (peppermint and chamomile are great). Skip the fizzy drinks and caffeine.

3. Breathe through it – stress is a massive IBS trigger. Slow, deep breaths (in through your nose, out through your mouth) help calm your nervous system and relax your gut. Try to make your out breath twice as long as your in breath and breathe deep into your abdomen. Even better, try some alternate nostril breathing!

4. A short walk or some light stretching can help get things moving and relieve bloating. No need for a full workout, just avoid lying curled up for too long.

5. Avoid known trigger foods. If you’re mid-flare, now isn’t the time to test your gut’s limits. Skip the high-fat, dairy-heavy, or high-FODMAP foods. Stick to simple, easy-to-digest meals.

IBS doesn’t have to control your life.

These tips will help you get through a flare-up, but if you’re sick of constantly battling your gut, it’s time to get to the root cause.

5 healthy swaps for chocolate šŸ«šŸš«

March is Dechox Month (a fun charitable challenge started by the British Heart Foundation)

So if you’re giving it up for a whole month, I know you’re gonna need some solid alternatives – not just for your sweet tooth, but for your energy, cravings, and mood too.

Here’s what to reach for when the cravings hit (and why your body will love it).

šŸ“ Berries & nut butter – The healthy fats keep you full, and the natural sweetness helps keep blood sugar steady (unlike that 4pm Dairy Milk crash).

🄄 Coconut yoghurt with cacao nibs – Cacao nibs are basically chocolate in its purest form – no sugar, no dairy, just magnesium-packed goodness to support energy and stress levels.

šŸÆ Medjool dates & tahini – Dates are packed with fibre and natural sweetness, and tahini brings healthy fats and calcium. It’s basically nature’s caramel. The dates can still give you a bit of a blood sugar crash afterwards so go easy with them - the protein in the tahini can help to slow that crash down though.

🌰 Toasted nuts with maple syrup & sea salt – A crunchy, salty-sweet combo that won’t spike your blood sugar like a chocolate bar would because the protein in the nuts slow down the release of sugar from the maple syrup - go easy on that maple syrup though! Plus, nuts give you that all-important magnesium hit (which, fun fact, is often why you crave chocolate). Try to avoid peanuts though as they are very high in mould content.

šŸŒ Frozen bluberry ā€˜nice cream’ – Frozen berries blended with some coconut milk will be like ice cream but without the sugar and, because berries are a low sugar fruit, they won't spike your blood sugar in the same way that say bananas would (or of course real ice cream!).

This isn’t just about quitting chocolate – it’s about resetting your cravings, balancing your blood sugar, and giving your body the nutrients it actually needs.

Let me know in the comments if you’re doing Dechox this year.

Thinking about going vegan but worried about how it’ll affect your gut?

I get it - it’s a big change, and for some people (especially if you’ve got SIBO or other digestive issues), it can feel really overwhelming.

Foods like lentils, beans, and even some veggies can cause bloating, gas, and all those gut dramas we’d rather avoid.

When I first tried going vegan 9 years ago, I learned this the hard way. In fact, that’s how I found out I had SIBO - and why I ended up specialising in gut health.

So if you’re feeling unsure, trust me, you’re not alone!

Here’s the good news... you can go vegan and keep your gut happy.

It’s all about making smart swaps - low-FODMAP foods, soaking legumes, adding probiotics, and listening to what your body needs.

Want to know more? Head to my blog for practical tips on how to go vegan without the gut drama.

https://p.bttr.to/37IoJRzIt’s easy to think, ā€œThis is just my life now,ā€ especially if you’ve been dealing with the same symptoms for years.

That’s exactly how Andrew felt.

He’d been putting up with gut issues and had resigned himself to just ā€œliving with it.ā€

But after just 3 months of working together, here’s what he had to say:

"I have learnt so much and seen so many improvements in my overall health. Eating so much better. Lost some weight, and seen huge improvements in how my guts function!"

Together, we worked on:
āœ”ļø Understanding the root causes of his symptoms
āœ”ļø A personalised plan tailored to his needs
āœ”ļø Practical changes that fit into his life

If you’ve been putting up with symptoms for years – bloating, fatigue, gut issues, or weight struggles – it doesn’t have to be this way.

Let’s get to the root of the problem and fix it for good.
