From a young age I had a genuine passion for sport. I played most sports including; football, tennis, netball, hockey and athletics, which was always a favourite of mine. Whilst growing up I was always involved in sport, representing my school, local teams and University in both Hockey and Tennis. After leaving University and starting work in the ‘real world’ it became apparent that keeping fit wasn’t going to be as easy as it used to be. I joined a gym and immediately took up running, however having never used gym equipment to keep fit it was all slightly alien to me. Seven years later, I now love the place and can’t believe how long it took for me to understand how best to use the gym to reach my fitness goals. This journey has led me to follow my passion in promoting a healthy balanced lifestyle and encouraging others to do so. Gyms can be a daunting place, for women in particular, therefore it is my job to encourage and educate not only women but also anyone who may currently experience the ‘gym fear’. A balanced lifestyle is key, and I love working with my clients and helping them understand the gym doesn’t have to be a means to an end, but somewhere they can escape to, develop, enjoy and take an extra step forward in reaching their fitness goals. Working with me you will see my passion to highlight that living a ‘healthy lifestyle’ isn’t about cutting out all the bad things in life, its about balance. Balance means enjoying life, sacrificing some things but not everything and maintaining an uncomplicated approach to your diet. The above is a question I’ve started to ask a lot of my clients when we first meet, it’s so easy to think we want to feel and look a certain way. The most common statement I hear is ‘I just want abs and to feel toned‘ … okay, we can do that BUT it will take hard work, consistency, time & a lot of discipline to often get to where we think we’d like to be… and in reality is that place actually going to make you any happier ?! ⁣

Having a realistic outlook on what’s feasible, whats sustainable and ultimately what you will enjoy doing whilst living your ‘best life’ is key💃🏽 😅⁣

Make goals that are realistic, be honest with yourself in terms of what you want and what you can fit into your week, be balanced with your approach yet push your limits where you can. ⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 🧠 ⁣

We talk about mindset and having the motivation etc to stick by our goals / our routine and just how crucial it is… but it really is so so true. ⁣

Let me talk you through my mindset pre run this morning 💭 ⁣

- it’s dark it’s cold, do I reallly want to run ⁣
- my legs are tired, I could just walk Milo⁣
- I worked out yesterday, I can have a day off ⁣
- Ah it really is miserable .. (it starts to rain)⁣
- Etc etc.⁣

You get the gist… but deep down the reality was my routine for the week included a run on Wednesday and I wasn’t not going to do it… so off I went 😆😅⁣

I set out thinking I’ll just do 5k, but whilst I was out 🏃🏽‍♀️ I started to enjoy it, and ended up doing 10(ish) … don’t get me wrong - as I set off I hated the first 5mins but stuck with it knowing I’d feel the benefits come the end and I did - mentally I felt clearer, I had far more energy and felt even better, simply because, I overcame the self doubt. ⁣

So.. the power of the mind… when you’re thinking ‘ ah but I really can’t be bothered today ‘ I’ll start tomorrow etc etc - take your headspace to the feel good factor post workout/ walk / spin class and push yourself to step out - that really is the hardest bit… once you’re there, the hardest part is over 💯 ⁣


So set that alarm for the morning and go for it - you won’t regret it. 💪🏼 ⁣

A little note to highlight/remind any of you that I am officially qualified to train anyone who is pre/postnatal. ⁣

There are so many myths out there re training throughout your pregnancy or how to get back into fitness and I understand the uncertainty and the worry it may bring therefore I want to provide you with the confidence and knowledge that will enable you to keep active throughout your pregnancy but also a safe routine/ programme that you can stick to once your little one arrives.⁣

If you would like some advice, or have any queries about prenatal/postnatal training then please do not hesitate to ask.⁣

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫… 𝐜𝐲𝐚𝐚𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 👋🏼 ⁣

Firstly, I hope you all have a fab new year, it will be a quiet one for the Jackson’s since I’ve passed said virus 🦠 onto Sam 😬🤦🏽‍♀️… so if you’re out and about enjoy 🎉⁣

The new year is an opportunity to 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡, a time to give yourself some goals, something to work towards. I’m very much about making the ‘healthy living’ a lifestyle and not a short lived detox that gives temporary results… if you’re someone who is struggling with how to get started, what to do or simply where to start… speak to someone who knows ( aka a PT, health coach - whatever they want to be called 💁🏽‍♀️) who lives that lifestyle, please don’t be reading and buying into the latest diet fad! ⁣

I’m excited to get back to work, ultimately so I can be out the house again 😂😅, but also to get back to helping clients reach their goals, I love watching the development of clients both in & outside of the gym. The confidence it brings and alongside this, their health & happiness 😁⁣

At a time where 🦠🦠🦠 is simply everywhere… we all need to remember the basics… your health is everything - it seems to have been lost in the midst of the chaos but being inactive, overweight and simply ‘ unhealthy ‘ is what will drive this virus, any virus for that matter… the best way to boost your immune system is to be active, eat well, get adequate sleep i.e. looking after yourself .. so make 2022 the year you look out for yourself & your health… don’t focus on the way you want to look/ feel so much… make it about your overall health - you might find that’s a bigger motivator right now 🤷🏽‍♀️⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠… ⁣

The most underrated exercise, in my opinion anyway, is walking - something we can all add to our day whether it be a quick 10/15mins or a nice stroll in the countryside 🍁 ⁣

I say this because before we got Milo, I wouldn’t have dreamt of going for a walk to improve my overall fitness. Basically because I thought it wasn’t enough… when actually since having Milo and walking daily, this has probably had the biggest impact on my fitness levels. ⁣

I want to highlight this point because it’s a really straightforward exercise routine that we can all add / increase to start seeing & feeling a difference; it’s also great for the head, fresh air and all that 🤗⁣

This week has been one of the most miserable weeks weather wise, I 💯 would not have been out and about getting my steps in if it wasn’t for mental Milo - but in reality once I’m out and wrapped up, the benefits are the same, if not better - purely because it makes getting home, dry and cosy feel even more satisfying ☺️. ⁣

So a message from Milo & I for this weekend, whatever the weather, get out there, get moving and start feeling the difference a few extra steps to your day can make. 🐾 🚶🏽‍♀️ ⁣

𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐠𝐨… 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐧 🙊⁣

If you’re motivated by the number on the side of your weight then great.. no really great… 😅 HOWEVER… don’t be driven by increasing that number before you really are ready to do so. ⁣

Being motivated by progression whether that be, the weights you’re lifting, the speed at which you’re running or the results you’re making.. just make sure you’re ready for the next step, otherwise making that jump could become pointless. ⁣

Keeping your form is so much more important than adding weights, you might be able to lift 100kg but are you executing that movement correctly?! Are you using the muscle group correctly!? … you may find you get far more by dropping the weight and focusing on hitting the movement correctly - don’t be ashamed to drop the weight and focus on the movement. ⁣

I personally am not hugely motivated by the number on the side of the bar… but that’s not to stay you shouldn’t be. It’s ultimately whatever gets you moving & motivated. ⁣

My focus with fitness is very much driven around conditioning over strength - but as with everything, there is a balance. Not many people care too much about how quickly they can go 500m on a skierg… but I do 😂🤷🏽‍♀️… my point is - that’s great if you’re motivated by the weights you’re lifting - we all need a motive BUT don’t get ahead of yourself too quickly and lose focus on your form… 💪🏼⁣

Winter is well and truly here & the setbacks are endless… the weather, not feeling 100%, lack of focus, motivation - no real desire to be meeting your goals - o and not forgetting the very popular; ‘ but it’s Christmas… I’ll start again in the New Year’ 😠🙊⁣

I get the above, I do - but I don’t let them get in the way. Overcoming the excuses is so important at this time of year… yes listen to your body, as there are more and more little 🦠 about - but keeping fit physically and mentally is so important. ⁣

Stick to your routine, don’t let the Christmas excuse get in the way.. because come the new year, new you… you’ll regret it 😆 everything will feel 10x harder - I promise. ⁣

So do what you can, stay consistent, don’t give up and please don’t wait for the new year hype 🙄🙊⁣
