Hi,
Gen X therapist here, originally from Finland.
My self-care does not look like a fixed routine or anything overly polished.

Some months it is techno music that helps me feel alive again and reset my nervous system. Other times it is sound baths that gently slow everything down and bring me back into balance. And then there are the simple, grounding things like walks with my dog that quietly return me to myself.

It varies, and I have come to really appreciate that. Every month it might look a little different depending on what I need, what I am carrying, or what I am trying to soften or release.

For me it is about anything that helps regulate and nurture my nervous system with care and attention.

Self-care is not one thing. It is whatever helps me come back to myself in that moment.

What does your self-care look like? ❤️

A gentle reflection on how we often try to avoid our feelings, telling ourselves they will pass or heal with time. Yet what is pushed aside does not disappear, it lingers within the body and mind, waiting for space, attention, and acceptance without judgement. ✨💫🌱🤍

Emotional neglect does not always look dramatic.

Sometimes it simply looks like feelings not being noticed, talked about, or supported.

Many people learn to cope by disconnecting from their emotional world or relying only on themselves.

These patterns are understandable responses to early experiences.

In counselling we can gently explore them and begin developing a relationship with your emotions that feels safer and more compassionate.

Save this if it resonates with you.

🪨 Grey Rocking

Grey rocking is a boundary tool used when interacting with someone who is emotionally manipulative or seeks intense reactions.

It involves responding in a calm, neutral, and emotionally minimal way.
The aim is not to change the other person, but to protect your own emotional energy.

Grey rocking may look like brief, factual replies, limited personal sharing, and stepping away from arguments or emotional discussions.

It is not about being rude, ignoring someone, or using the silent treatment.
It is about staying grounded and reducing emotional engagement.

Grey rocking helps by removing the emotional fuel that keeps conflict going, allowing you to prioritise your wellbeing.🤍

Setting boundaries can be an important step towards emotional well-being.
When you begin to set boundaries, especially in unhealthy or narcissistic dynamics, the responses you receive may feel confusing or painful.

This post explores some common reactions to boundary setting.
Not to label or diagnose, but to help you recognise patterns and trust your experience.

If you see yourself here, you are not doing anything wrong.
Boundaries are not about controlling others.
They are about protecting yourself.

Take what resonates.
Leave what doesn’t. 💛
