Minnies first time in the Treadmill π
π₯ Condition - Post- op patella luxation ( 2 years previously )
Minnie did have Physiotherapy straight after surgery and was given the all clear after her sessions.
2 years down the line, Minnie has had a check up with us and we have noticed she visibility has a huge difference with the muscle in her hind legs.
The operation leg has less! What does this mean β
This means that over time Minnie has felt discomfort, this is very common after surgery and started taking weight of that limb she had the operation on.
Why after she's had an operation β
Animals the same as humans can develop arthritis and dogs do much sooner than us.
When something has changed ( a structure, joint in the body) it's like having a kink in a bike chain π² nothing will quite work the same as it once used too. It's not smooth running, or doesn't have enough wd40! ( Synovial fluid )
This in turn this affects other parts of the body, she's not using the leg correctly so she's losing muscle, not only does she have discomfort in that knee,
Shes now putting pressure on her back and other leg, which could end up with another operation. We don't want!
How can we help β
Firstly we will use the laser to help with pain and inflammation in the leg that was operated on, massage her back and laser the other knee that's been taking the pressure for months/years ( to prevent this from being affected)
πThen she went on the water treadmill. This helps with inflammation, building the muscle back up. it takes the pressure of ground exercise in the water!
β How can you prevent this from happing
πΆ Maintance physiotherapy - The laser will keep any inflammation away & we will know BEFORE it gets to that point preventing any more issues.
