Residents had a blast with our recent rugby challenge 🏉

The Red Robins took on the Bluebirds - from passing drills to a cone-knockout game, there was plenty of friendly rivalry and laughter. Our champion, Mary, said, “This is the first time I’ve played rugby, thank goodness there were no scrums!” 🎉

Residents at Abbotts Barton Care Home were recently treated to a joyful afternoon as students from Wi******er City Dance School performed a series of dance routines in the home.

Dancers of all ages showcased pieces they have been preparing for their examinations, impressing residents with their poise, energy, and confidence. Several residents, who had danced themselves in earlier years, watched with particular interest.

A Mary Poppins-inspired routine was a firm favourite, with Betty sharing, “They were a joy to watch.”

A special visit from Ems Friendly Farm 🐐🐴

Pygmy goats Louis and Mooie and Shetland pony Honey visited the home, with residents enjoying feeding them and spending time together. Centenarians Chloe and Betty particularly loved meeting Honey, with Chloe saying, “What a treat. You’ve really made my day.”

A wonderful afternoon full of smiles and interaction!

Residents recently enjoyed a warm lunch inside by the log fire, taking in the beautiful River Test views from indoors. Barry said it best: “I’ve been really looking forward to this trip, and it was certainly worth the wait.”

Thanks to the enthusiasm of our residents, the support of families and friends, and the dedication of our team, we raised an incredible amount... and had a lot of fun along the way!

What a day at Abbotts Barton! 🎭✨

Our residents recently shone in a hilarious performance of Red Riding Hood. Caroline's Red Riding Hood, Alan's wolf, Pauline's Grandma and Frances’ mother had everyone laughing with clever ad-libs and playful twists — including Barry as a Monty Python-style lumberjack!

Pauline summed it up perfectly: “It was so lovely to hear genuine laughter. I enjoyed it so much – even more than last year!”

Residents recently took a wonderful trip to Whitchurch Silk Mill! They enjoyed a self-guided tour, watched the skilled weavers at work, and were fascinated by the historic waterwheel.

The visit finished perfectly with tea, cake, and a chance to admire the beautiful hand-finished scarves 🫖
