If praise or recognition were rare growing up, it can feel strange or uncomfortable to celebrate ourselves now. That’s why learning to give ourselves ‘positive strokes’, is so important - if there aren’t many around us, we can learn to offer them from within.

This week brought me a reminder of how fragile life can be and how deeply loss touches us. Our histories shape how we handle emotion, connection, and grief and it’s something worth noticing with compassion.

If any of this resonates, know that you’re not alone. Your feelings make sense.
Be gentle with yourself - and go ahead and celebrate your own steps, even the quiet ones.

The truth is, we all have our limits. Life is about recognising yours and responding differently. Self-care has to become a top priority, and those who may never understand will just have to wait. It’s not selfish, it’s survival. Especially when you’ve always been the strong one, learning to put yourself first needs to be part of your well being journey.

I support individuals in growing awareness of their own personalities and discovering how best to live in the world, honouring who they are, not just who they’ve been expected to be.

How do we all prioritise our mental health?

Accessing support can be challenging, and busy schedules often make it hard to see a therapist. That’s where private services like mine can help, offering flexibility.

I offer both in-person or online counselling and psychotherapy with daytime appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, to make it easier for you to get the support you need.
If you’re considering therapy, I’d love to hear from you, simply email me for a free initial meeting to see if we both feel we can work together.

Ever felt misunderstood, like you’ve been too emotional, too sensitive, and not sure why?

You might have internalised these emotions having believed they are a negative thing. I get it.

At times as a kid, I was called “too sensitive.” But it wasn’t until my forties I realised it’s not a flaw—it’s a superpower.

I pick up on emotions and energy others might miss. It’s not a weakness it’s awareness. This was lack of attunement not something wrong with me.

If you’re a woman, maybe a mum in the South Lakes, Cumbria, or anywhere in the UK—and you’re ready to start understanding yourself better, I’m here to help. I work both in person and online.
