Alternating between activation and relaxation is what keeps the nervous system flexible, dynamic and healthy.

Overtime, creating a rhythm of up and down regulation, increases our stress resilience, decreases our regulation time meaning we respond to activating stimuli quicker and can relax and recover quicker too.

With the rise of workplace stress, anxiety and burnout, carrying your most natural asset, your breath in a conscious way is more needed than ever.

Breath utilisation can help reduce stress and anxiety, prevent burnout and simultaneously boost our performance when breath training is approached in the right way.

Here are four tips on how you can start incorporating the breath into your workday now.

1. Start a daily practice.
2. Maintain breath intelligence.
3. Find natural transition periods to check-in.
4. Use your breath to transition away from work.

If you're ready to find more flow in your workday, comment or dm workflow for a link to my upcoming online breath workshop ๐ŸŒฌ

We are supposed to be able to switch easily between rest and action, but the demands of modern life, mixed with the lack of nervous system/breath education, means we are a society where most of us can get stuck in chronic stress which can lead to burnout.

The classic tell tale sign of this is feeling wired but tired. Struggling to recharge when you rest and feeling like you are pushing on regardless.

Breath can help us maintain are dynamism, moving between activation and relaxation.

Our reactions to external stimuli can tell us a lot about the state of our nervous system. By being sympathetic nervous system dominant, we can quite literally be 'wound-up' and our reactions to external stimuli can end up being disproportional. (Think the last time someone snapped at you for no real reason๐Ÿ˜†)

By using our breath we can help ourselves downregulate and unwind so we are not carrying stress with us, and allowing it to cloud our vision and experience of life ๐ŸŒฌ
