🌿 I read a lot for my job, like any other professional in the field of therapy. A year ago, I was reading books only on psychology and hypnotherapy so that I can improve my practice.
📕📘📔 However, I am discovering more and more that many of my amazing clients write! Some write diaries, some write memoirs and some even write books which get published! 🤩🤩🤩
💖 I feel very honoured when a client shares with me such a personal thing as their writing. I've dived into the worlds I never thought would be part of my reading: fantasy, sci-fi, war. Those stories open up the best side of my clients.
🌿 I try to read everything that has been sent or given (or pushed under my door the day before the session) straight away, even if it means not getting a sleep. First of all, I am amazed how wonderfully these people can write. And secondly, their stories give so much material for the sessions! We are our own best coach, friend and cheer-leader; I even use their own words in the script for the session. This can be so powerful! 💪💪💪
🤔 What's interesting is that after reading somebody's whole life story, I expect those events come up during hypnosis, but very often they don't even get mentioned. A person might think that all their troubles started when they had a toxic friend in year 8, they lost a job or they split up from their partner, but normally everything starts much, much earlier. It might start with something seemingly trivial like mum not buying an ice-cream when the client was three and shaming him for crying. And when the client gets to that event in hypnosis, all of a sudden, their whole life story becomes so clear to me! It's amazing how our programs can be unravelled and taken to a single event or two!
🌿 Keep writing your stories, wonderful people! 🌿
