8s Match report Vs Glashire United FC

Tough one for the 8s last night, but there’s more to it than the scoreline.

We went 1-0 up and for the first 20 minutes played some of our best football of the season. Everything we’ve been working on was there, shape, discipline, and real composure on the ball. Against a very strong side, we looked more than comfortable.

After they equalised we lost our rhythm and the game got away from us, which is something we know we need to improve, sustaining that level over a full match.

The positives are clear though. When we get it right, we are a very good team. That opening spell shows exactly where we’re heading.

Plenty to take on board, plenty to work on, and we go again.

March’s award goes to Marc McQuade, with his 3 year anniversary at the club just around the corner.

When Marc joined, his main goal was to get his BMI under 30 which he achieved last month during our first weight loss challenge of the year.

The transformation is clear to see. A completely different version of the man who turned up at training 3 years ago, a great example of what consistency over time can do.

After a spell out through injury, Marc returned to his best last month with a Man of the Match performance against Inter Airdrie, showing the quality he brings to the team.

He became club president last year and dedicates a huge amount of his time to helping the club and encouraging others on the same path.

A brilliant journey and a top person to have around the club, just not at quiz nights 📝

🤳🏻 Pics from today's friendly match in the midst of Storm Dave

A great day out with the lads, definitely team building in conditions like that. Not a great deal to shout about today but our MOTM was our goalkeeper Brandon who has been out a long time with injury , and had a great game , excellent to have him back.

We have a big week ahead , 8s league on Wednesday, training Thursday and Warriors League on Sunday. Lots of posts and updates with what we've been up to and what we have planned in the coming days , Hope everyone's off tomorrow ✌🏻♥️ your favourite overweight amateur football club xoxo
