For those of you who want to try this form of treatment for the first time.
In a Reiki treatment, universal life energy ( Qi ) is transferred over the hands of the practitioner to the body of the recipient. This energy is healing and harmonising
The order of the hand positions can be chakra-oriented or symptom orientated or freely intuitively chosen. Deep sustainable, sometimes impressive relaxation experiences are possible with this form of treatment.

My Reiki Shares are a gathering of Reiki Practitioners who congregate for a combination of a social and healing interaction.
A share can last anywhere from 2 to 3 hours. It depends on how many people attendedthe share.
The purpose of a Reiki share is for practitioners to participate in giving and receiving Reiki within an atmosphere of friendship and love.
A Reiki share consists of many healing hands on one person at a time. One person lays on a table while the participating practitioners gather around that person, laying their hands upon him/her facilitating a massive flow of Reiki energies. Group energies are often very strong and can be more penetrating than individual sessions. This type of Reiki treatment is a wonderful and often profound experience!

What happens during a treatment?
You the patient, relax, fully clothed, on a couch or seated whilst the healer holds their hands on or above you. A treatment can last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. In the western world many practitioners use the standard hand positions and commonly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body. There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are held away from the body. The energy flows wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience.

Reiki can be used for many ailments such as reducing stress, relieving pain, headaches, stomach upsets, back problems, asthma - respiratory problems, PMT, menstrual problems, sinus, anxiety and many more.
There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment. As in any healing practice the first step towards a healthier life is an open mind and desire to be healed.
Please observe that Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used as a compliment and a way to become and remain healthy.

Reiki in the West refers to a holistic healing system originally re-discovered by a Japanese Buddhist scholar, Dr Mikao Usui in the early part of the twentieth century. Reiki is a healing process that anyone can benefit from in the normal course of their life and may also bring help and comfort to people suffering from a range of conditions. However, it should not be regarded as a cure for such conditions—healing and curing are not always the same—and neither is it a religion nor a belief system. As a natural form of healing, Reiki can support and enhance other forms of treatment, including conventional medical treatments as well as alternative or complementary therapies. The most common way of experiencing Reiki for most people is by receiving a Reiki treatment from a Reiki practitioner, where the recipient remains fully clothed and lies on a therapy couch or sits on a chair and relaxes. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively on or near the body, in a sequence of positions. There is no pressure, massage or manipulation and the whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

Do not believe in anything (simply) because you have heard it.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
Do not believe in anything because it is spoken and rumoured by many.
Do not believe in anything (simply) because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conductive to the good and benefit of one and all then accept it and live up to it>
