This easter ive been experimenting with pigments making again. This time from Dandelions. Really enjoyed this process as it slows you down and gives you time to connect to nature and to yourself. First the strolling to gather the flower heads, only picking where there is abundance and leaving plenty for the pollinators. I saw two butterfly's feeding from the bright yellow flower heads. Then the meditative process of removing the yellow petals from the green base, then its time to get scientific with water, blenders and different ingredients to pull the pigments from the water. Might add some binders this weekend to create a water colour and see how it goes. I used a simplified method but I think I may try a refined process next to see what difference it makes. Ive also been gathering spent daffodil stalks to dry and use for weaving.

Ok so.wet felting is not my only new hyperfocus. My creative side has obviously not been nourished enough in 2025 so I'm going to make sure I have making time every week. Today's learning .... willow bird house.

Currebt hyperfocus. Learning to wet felt beyond small flat pieces. Kinda pleased with the result. Few patches that are too thin but it's all learning.

Beautiful day so we decided to head out for a walk and forage for an upcoming workshop. The nature gods were kind and we found an amazing haul of pine resin. Had a go at making making amadou as well, till I cut myself whoops but you do need a very sharp knife.

I'm pondering where next to take my creative and herbal practise after recent workshop delivery.
I've enjoyed it so much and the enthusiasm of the participants, young and old alike has really filled my heart with joy.

It's times like these that make me remember why I started my Gatis journey and, how, in recent years I've been forced away from my hearts joy so much by red tape, funding and the general stress that running a multifaceted business entails.
This year my health has taken a nose dive and its forced me to slow down but its also highlight just how much burn out I've been in. Trying to do everything for everyone all the time, it just cant keep going on, so from now on I'm going to carve out time for myself and developing what makes my heart sing.

Today I had planned on gutting my home office - its desperate! but I decided that whilst the sun was shining I'd sit outside and do something for me. In last weeks workshop my intrepid trainee hedgewitches managed to gather quite a lot of oak galls and acorns. Whilst each trainee took acorns home to try and grow mighty oaks they all left the oak galls! Here is a peek at my effots in making oak gall ink! Have loved the process and made a superb ink and its showing me that my heart lies in plants, colour and art - this is what my soul needs right now!

If there is interest I may consider running some classes in pigment and ink making. Lets see what develops (lols see what I did there!)

Some photos of my fab little trainee hedgewitches during last week and this week's workshops at we've explored using plants in making art, made fairy protectors, hunted out treasures, collected seeds and made seed bombs. Our trainees quickly remembered their learnings and all donated a seed bombs back to the centre to give thanks. Well done my little hedgewitches. Big thank you to the parents for their inquisitive questions too. I just love facilitating these workshops as it fills my heart with joy. 🥰

Fabulous session delivered today at on primitive toothcare. Here we see my trainee hedgewitches mixing up some delicious toothpowders from readily available ingredients. Over the next few weeks I'm delivering more sessions on Wednesday mornings. See Wildsides website for booking details.

Been a while but finally connecting back to the earth and sharing my knowledge with others. This was Mondays women's circle at Gatis where I introduced making pigments from rocks and plants. Watch this space for news of workshops being held at Gatis and Wildsude this summer.
