As someone said a confident nurse can be a proud nurse, yes an overconfident individual becomes arrogant and a safety risk as he wants to appear incorrigible at all times.
Here is a little about what been a confident nurse looks like ā¦
Being a confident nurse
Is not about being loud, mannerless and interrogative to colleague and to people or first to call out mistakes in public and correct immediately, or to teach when not asked. It is about speaking up calmly and firmly about an incorrect practice and going extra miles to speak up if the wrong practice or behaviour persist and off course using the right protocolsā¦.
Itās not aabout having all the answers instantly, but the honest and calm response you give about not knowing a particular thing and doing the due diligence to find out and communicate timely and effectively to your patientā¦
Itās not about the way you walk into the room with thud footsteps and the body attitude of āam the bossābut walking in with firm step, acknowledging other people presence with appropriate greeting style and soft smile avoiding unnecessary jokesā¦
It is also the feeling of I am capable, I am committed to your wellness and attentive to your concerns that could be easily perceived in all you doā¦
