🚨 Safety First – Supporting Those Who Serve 🚨

We’re proud to announce the installation of our Reverse Smart Autobraking Safety System onto Kelly Plant Hire Ltd Beam Sweeper, which will be operating at a nearby airport.

This vehicle was already equipped with an impressive range of safety features — including safety lights, cameras, and perimeter lighting — but now it’s completed with the final layer of protection: automatic braking from Doctor Air Brake.

The Reverse Smart Autobraking System assists the driver during manoeuvres around the airport, alerting them to any obstacles or people entering the detection zone. If necessary, the system will automatically apply the brakes to prevent potential accidents — helping to protect both lives and equipment.

It was a particular pleasure to work on this Beam Sweeper, proudly wrapped in remembrance of our soldiers who have fought to protect our freedom and future. As we approach Remembrance Day, we take a moment to honour those who have served and those who continue to battle physical or mental trauma from their service.

Following the fatal incident at Biffa Waste Services Ltd — where a worker was crushed by a reversing skip wagon — Health and Safety Executive stated:

“This incident was easily avoidable… Nearly a quarter of all deaths involving workplace transport occur during reversing manoeuvres.”

Yesterday we had the privilege of meeting with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service driver training Managers Tim Wareham & Alan Snell with the help of Sweeptech Environmental Services, who kindly provided their premises and a road sweeper for a live demonstration.
We showcased how Doctor Air Brake Ltd Autonomous Braking System has been helping Dawsongroup & Sweeptech prevent accidents, protecting their business, drivers, and assets.
The team from Staffordshire Fire & Rescue were able to:
✅ Learn exactly how the system works
✅ Watch the vehicle in action
✅ Get behind the wheel themselves and experience autonomous braking first-hand
Their feedback was fantastic – they were extremely impressed with the safety and performance of our autobrake system. Staffordshire Fire & Rescue will now be looking to adopt autonomous braking across their fleet, leading the way in fire services safety innovation.
