Bath seats can give parents a false sense of security that their child is safe. That simply isn’t true.

While bath seats can help support your baby in the bath, they’re NOT safety aids.

Babies can easily wriggle or slip out, or the seat itself can tip over and immerse the baby in the water.

If a baby's face goes in the water, they don’t tend to lift their head or move.

It’s scary to think about but that’s why babies can drown in just a few centimetres of water, very quickly and with no noise or struggle to alert you.

⚠️Stay with your baby while they’re in the bath.
⚠️Keep them in arms reach all the time to keep them safe.
⚠️If you need to leave the bathroom, even for a moment, take your baby with you.

❗New Infographic: How do infant formulas compare?

➡️ Did you know? If you are giving your baby infant formula, First Infant Formula is the only formula they will need in the first year of life. It doesn’t matter which brand you use as they are all very similar.

➡️ However, formula companies will lead parents/carers to believe that their high priced products are superior to other, lower cost, alternatives. Formula companies use ingredient claims which suggest certain products are better when in fact, they make no difference to the health and nutrition outcomes or product safety.

➡️ Our new infographics highlight how similar all infant formula in the UK are, and the minimal differences between ‘premium’ branded formula products and supermarket own-brand alternatives.

Happy Women’s International Day!

In a world that often tries to define us, categorise us, and sometimes even diminish us, let's take a moment to celebrate the undeniable truth: women are inherently brave, strong, resilient, and breathtakingly beautiful in their own unique and authentic ways.

We are the mothers, the daughters, the sisters, the friends, the leaders, the creators, the innovators, the caregivers, and so much more. We carry within us a strength that transcends generations, a resilience that weathers storms, and a beauty that radiates from the depths of our souls.
Our bravery isn't always loud; sometimes, it's a quiet determination, a gentle persistence, a willingness to face our fears and rise above challenges. It's in the everyday acts of courage, in the small steps we take toward our dreams, in the way we support and uplift one another.

Our resilience is a testament to our ability to adapt, to grow, and to transform. It's in the way we learn from our experiences, embrace change, and find hope in the face of uncertainty. It's in our ability to rise stronger after every fall.

And our beauty? It's not confined to a singular image or a narrow definition. It's in our diversity, our individuality, our authenticity. It's in the lines etched by laughter and tears, the stories written on our skin, the passions that ignite our spirits. It's in the way we embrace our imperfections and celebrate our uniqueness.

Let's remember to honor the women who came before us, who paved the way for us to have the opportunities we have today. Let's support the women beside us, who inspire us with their courage and kindness. And let's empower the women who will come after us, so they can continue to break barriers and shatter glass ceilings.

Today, and every day, let's celebrate the incredible power and beauty of womanhood. Let's remind ourselves and each other that we are enough, just as we are. 🙌

This is a very good book, here is a synopsis-
"The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma" by Bessel van der Kolk is a groundbreaking book that explores the profound impact of trauma on individuals and how it reshapes the brain and body. Here's a synopsis:
* The Core Idea:
* The book emphasizes that trauma is not just a psychological experience; it leaves a physical imprint on the body. This "score" manifests in various ways, affecting emotions, behaviors, and overall well-being.
* It details how traumatic experiences can disrupt the brain's functioning, particularly in areas related to memory, emotion regulation, and self-awareness.
* Key Themes:
* The Neuroscience of Trauma: Van der Kolk delves into the neurological effects of trauma, explaining how it alters brain structures and pathways.
* The Body-Mind Connection: The book highlights the inseparable link between physical and emotional health, demonstrating how trauma can lead to physical symptoms and chronic conditions.
* Healing and Recovery: It explores various therapeutic approaches, including:
* EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing)
* Yoga
* Neurofeedback
* And other somatic therapies that help individuals reconnect with their bodies and process traumatic experiences.
* The Importance of Attachment: The book also discusses the central role of attachment and social connection in both the development of trauma-related disorders and in the healing process.
* Overall Impact:
* "The Body Keeps the Score" has been widely influential in the field of trauma studies, providing a comprehensive and accessible overview of the complex interplay between trauma, the brain, and the body.
* It offers hope and practical strategies for individuals seeking to heal from the effects of trauma.

Traumatic experiences leave their imprint on the body as well as the mind. Dr Bessel van der Kolk returns to How To Academy to offer a new paradigm for healing.
