Unfortunately on Sunday 7/7 my walking every day came to a painful and abrupt end 😢. I was picking up a box from the lounge floor and my back seized when I was arched over, and I stayed in that position in excruciating pain. I still considered doing my walk as was upset about the possibility of my continuous walking streak this year coming to an end but I was struggling to even walk a step from the pain! 😫

I was at that point unsure what damage I had done to my back but was laying flat and crawling up the stairs whenever I needed to. I decided to do an unblokilike thing and go to the docs in the week to get checked over. He checked my back vertebrae one by one and concluded I hadn’t slipped a disc so at least that was one good thing. He said must be ligament/muscle strain and I was to take it easy and gradually build up to walking my miles again.

So lucky that I’ve got the best muscle rub and essential oils money can buy so since I’ve been slathering those on my back managing the pain with a view of getting back to my walking asap (but not too soon as I found out on Saturday trying to walk as far as I’d walked before which has set me back - BIG MISTAKE!). The doc told you Jon to ease back into walking miles gradually…didn’t listen did you…but yes, I’m impatient! 🤦🏼‍♂️. Lesson learnt!!!

So in summary, I managed 188 continuous days (or over 6 months) 1/1 to Saturday 6/7 inclusive before I was forced to stop (temporarily 🤞🏻). But what started out as a personal new year challenge to myself turned into a lifestyle choice and habit. I’ve felt so much better for it walking daily, lost weight, more energy and generally felt better about myself so I will be continuing to walk my 3+ miles daily again as soon as I am able. Thanks for all your support and encouragement along the way 🙏🏼, it really kept me going on those dreary days 🌧️ when the weather was trying to keep me indoors…but I resisted its lazy suggestions and walked anyway! 🚶‍♀️

And…to coin an Arnie phrase “I’LL BE BACK!!!”…walking again just as soon as my back allows 😎

Day 129 has been a true test of listening to my body, as I found myself feeling unusually drained and dizzy. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best action is to take a step back and rest. 🤒

Despite the energy zap, I couldn't let my walking streak falter. With determination, I managed to muster the strength for a 3-mile walk, keeping the streak alive and proving to myself that I can overcome challenges, one step at a time. 🚶‍♂️🔋

Day 128 and I've added another 3 miles to my tally. Honestly, I was on the verge of breaking my streak today, feeling less than motivated. But, pushing through the reluctance, I managed to complete my 3 miles. 🏆
