Busy but fabulous few days - a trip to Brighton for the PTUK Play Therapy conference.
Meeting Lisa Terni Dion from Synergetic Play Therapy Institute in person was just amazing π€©
I qualified as a Synergetic Play Therapist 3 years ago and the impact it has had upon my life both personally and professionally has been profound!
Lisaβs talk around aggression in the playroom was inspiring and validating. The work we do as Play Therapists is huge.. the levels we go to to be able to support children to move towards the pain that they have experienced is enormous.
We sit with some very BIG emotions and witness sometimes explosions that need space, time, care and attunement to be seen, validated, expressed and integrated. We see the fear, the pain, the trauma, the need for control and all of those protective layers that have been developed for a sense of security and control in a world that can feel scary and unpredictable.
Some people think play therapy is βjust playingβ. If only they knew the true depths we and the children go to in order to help them to heal and grow πΌ
I then spent the afternoon with where we continued to delve into the depths of aggression in the playroom - such a wonderful training session! And a brilliant conference! π
