Dr Naomi Fisher has an approach and stance that I appreciate and admire so very much; especially when we're talking about education.

I'm currently working within education, albeit SEMH (social, emotional & mental health) which is significantly more flexible than main-stream but still has many challenges.

I find myself conflicted about how we can move away from the system that seems to work less and less, for more and more of our young people.

Systemic practice may be a helpful approach when considering the school system, how it impacts the family system and indeed other systems that our young people interact with every single day.

Please contact for information if your child and family are struggling with education on any level: much of my career to date has indeed revolved around these experiences, and more

When school has gone wrong for your child, you're left picking up the pieces. We'll discuss the lasting impact on parents and how to recover

Hi everyone; I appreciate I've been very quiet recently.
This is primarily because I'm building this up around other work commitments.

However, as this is a focus of mine, to grow... I'm taking this weekend to consider how to weave interesting and helpful content and topics in upcoming weeks.

Starting with my Sneek Peek, which will be brief snapshots of activities and resources that can be use in therapeutic sessions

Watch this space and have a wonderful weekend

Welcome to 2025, I hope everyone is settling into a new year- often considered an opportunity to wipe the slate clean, after difficult times.

Here's to moving through the beginning of 2025 with positive, conscious thoughts. Leading us to healthy, consistent decisions and achieving the outcomes and goals we so desire. Whether that simply be to get your teenager out of bed for school, without yelling/nagging/repeating yourself over & over....& over (I'm sure we've all wished for that at some point).

Sometimes, however, that can be incredibly tricky. We are but creatures of habit- with patterns of behaviour that can create unhelpful cycles that we become stuck in.

Let's make 2025 the year we seek to break or manage these unhelpful cycles & move towards our happiest, healthiest, consistent beings. I'm a big believer of spirituality, alongside my psycotherapeutic approach- putting into the universe what you wish to get back

If this feels like too big a task to start alone- please get in touch- via message or email. I'd be humbled to see if and how I might support you on your journey; from Survive to Thrive, no less 😀

What services do I offer?

Mental health support and services can really feel like a minefield, right?

There's different levels of support and different support services for different needs and diagnoses.

Sometimes you're told a service will be able to help and when you get through the door for your assessment, are sadly informed of entirely different information.

It adds to the stresses you're already all facing; I understand this first hand and indeed how this fact alone can really contribute to and escalate your worries, concerns, needs, risk and a whole variety of unhelpful, unwanted experiences

Here's where I can help. My services include, but are not entirely limited to;

•Clinical Consultation & Assessment. This is really to information gather as much relevant information as possible to determine, firstly- my capacity to support. But also to consider whether any wider services or referrals would be more suitable or indeed compliment our intervention

•Therapeutic interventions, supporting mild & preventative to moderate-severe mental health challenges: anxiety, low mood/depression, self harm and reactions to trauma. Interventions will be tailored to individual needs, are creative, flexible and encourage development of skills and strategies to achieve therapeutic goals. These can be on a 1 to 1 basis or invite family members in

•Support with referrals to wider services; autism and adhd assessments continue to cause great confusion and uncertainty within education. I can untangle, direct and support parties required or indeed partake in referrals.

•Parental advice/support/consultation, in the background to any direct intervention work.

•Liaison with schools/GPs/Social care to encourage joined up working and improve outcomes for the individual attending therapeutic intervention

•Bridging gaps while on waiting lists for mental health or well being services

•Creative and thought provoking activities

✨️Finally and most importantly- a safe, non-judgemental space, upholding professional confidentiality & integrity, to get your journey to thriving, well on its way✨️

So, now you know a little bit about me; what is Systemic Family Practice?

In a nut shell, systemic family practice & therapy considers how individuals behaviour is influenced and organised in relation to surrounding systems.

Systems are the different groups of people/places that individuals interact with. Family is considered the most influential and pivotal system- making this a relational approach. Within our family system, individuals have different roles, for example mom/dad/daughter/son/sibling (& more). Other systems include school & education/health professionals, friendships/peers & more

Our experiences & interactions within and between individuals & systems, merges with our unique characteristics and shapes our thoughts and feelings on all sorts of things in our lives. We develop patterns of behaviour- some of which are positive and helpful, others may be less so

Social Graces (John Burnham) is a wonderful way of considering how individual thoughts, feelings characteristics, beliefs and elements; are influenced within systems and across systems; via our experiences and interactions

Dr Naomi Fisher is someone I greatly admire!
I align with her position in relation to young people and the challenges they currently face, for a range of reasons, within education.

I am passionate about working alongside schools to improve the experience of an increasing population of adolescent/teens and emerging adults, within school

Education can be incredibly powerful, a tool to support reaching your full potential; moving away from survival to begin thriving.

However, increasing amounts of young people are struggling to engage, to feel motivated and feel comfortable at school; despite efforts schools make.

I believe that education can and should be accessed by all- in creative formats to be inclusive and meet the needs of the many

A wise specialist systemic psychotherapist introduced me to the idea that: People are not problems. Problems are problems and together they can be solved.

However, education is obviously not the only trigger (stressor or even escalator) for mental health challenges- indeed there is no right or wrong in what we find overwhelming and challenging, in our ever complex world.

So, what are you waiting for? get in touch if you want to ditch survival mode, start separating your problems from your person and get on your journey to happiness

Come and hear about Dr Naomi Fisher and Eliza Fricker's new book, hosted by Dr Olivia Kessel from the SEND Parenting Podcast.
