Next time you catch yourself talking negatively to yourself, pause, recognise it, and ask yourself, what would I say to a friend in this situation πŸ’–..if you wouldn't speak like that to a friend, then why is it OK to speak to yourself like it? πŸ€” x

Perhaps your bucket is spilling over...maybe its time to loosen the taps and release some of the pressure?

When we see our emotions as 'bad' or something to be ashamed off, we can end up glossing over them, making excuses for them and blaming other people for them.

Our emotions communicate so much to us, if we can find the space and courage to sit with them. When we can understand where our pain is coming from, we can have empathy for our emotions and behaviours, and take steps to help ourselves.

ARE YOU RUNNINGN ON EMPTY?

You're just as important as the people you prioritise!
It's ok to preserve your energy by saying no to the things you don't want to do.
It's OK to allow yourself time to sit and drink a tea while it's still hot.
It's OK to ask for help.

Next time you plug your phone in, ask yourself "how can I recharge my own batteries?!"

Do you struggle to let yourself cry?

Crying is completely natural and let's us and others know we're experiencing strong feelings.

Just look at babies...they get their nappy changed, get fed, get comfort etc from expressing their needs through crying.

Then we get to an age where we start to conform to fit in with the world around us so we take on messages such as;

"Don't be such a baby and stop crying"

"Oh no, please don't cry, I hate when people cry"

"Crying is for wimps"

"Boys / men don't cry"

"Crying makes you weak"

These statements couldn't be further from the truth, but we take them on board, and find other, more 'acceptable' ways of dealing with emotions such as lashing out or shutting ourselves away.

Crying is a natural healer, it takes courage to cry, and sets an example to others around you that it's OK, and can allow others to be vulnerable too.

So next time you feel an overwhelming urge to cry, see if you can let those tears out and notice how you feel after.
