Let's have a check in with our metaphorical armour. Remember in the Five Element map Fire 'controls' Metal, the Element of Autumn.
Taking heavy metal aspects (guilt, grief, regret, harsh judgements) and forging them in the fire of passion, enthusiasm and excitement for life can mean that our 'life armour' is easier to bear, more flexible, less `stuffy', upgraded even.
We often use our judgements as an armour. The 'I cant believe they have done xyz' or the 'I would never, ever do xyz'
And in the Fire of a rich life well lived, judgements often are challenged in the heat of reality,. My youngest son (and his NNT ways) teaches me so much about my judgements about things, getting me more flexible, less dogmatic.
Let's utilise the Five Element map theory that fire (passion, enthusiasm, love, heart) controls metal (values, morals, judgements, hard structures).
What needs forging, adapting, making more flexible?
Wishing you a beautiful Autumn day, Sarah-Jayne 🔥 ✨🛡 ✨🔥

Today lets have just a little word on shedding, on 'Letting go'.
We write about this important aspect of the Autumn a lot, with the trees doing a great job of showing us how to do it.
However not all trees let go all at once, evergreens let go a little at a time, over the whole year.
Some trees go for a big dramatic colourful shorter sharper letting go, others are slow and steady, a little at a time.
This diversity of approach is important to recognise.
A huge clear out once a year may not be right for everyone, a little at a time may be better.

Let's notice how we process, how we let go. All at once or slow and steady,?
Is the approach different in certain situations? It all adds to the diversity that makes up the rich tapestry of being a human.

The end of my clinic day today was spent listening to the feedback given to a student by her Vagus Nerve case study sessions.

I continue to be blown away by the power of this work, and the benefit that is being felt by those receiving it.

And the trainee practioner is blown away by it too.

What a beautiful way to complete a very varied week of work..from course manual upgrades, to ancestral healing through art client sessions, to website redesigns to 14 muscle testing a young tween. And alot in between.

Glad to not be bored. 😎💃❤️‍🔥

Its the start of a new week, and a new part of the year, as we fall back.
Today I am very aware of the shortening day length, and how this impacts on how I use my time in my daily routine.
The Metal element in Five Element theory is in charge of the 'hard' structures of our lives. (Think time, calendars, routine, laws, contracts, money, the academic year).
To me it also represents our moral fibre, our judgements, our bottom lines. This is like the metal girders that we would build a house around, its the hard structure that makes our lives earthquake/hurricane proof (or not), the reinforcement that makes us feel safe and secure.
As with everything in the Five Element map, imbalance can occur.
If we over judge ourselves or others, the world can feel like a harsh place to be.
If we are slaves to time and/or money, we can become resentful and bitter.
Defining structures such as laws and morals are important to keep us safe.
A balanced and healthy metal element does allow for a little flexibility, for upgrades and for reasoned change.
Its a good week for a 'life girders' check.
Are they rigid and outdated? Skewed? Or fit for purpose, recently upgraded and fully reinforcing how we want to be in this phase of our lives?
Enjoy the exploration, SJ ✨️🍂🍁✨️

Plenty going on with me, in terms of work at the moment! Have a look here to see what might be of interest to you!

Shiatsu practitioners and advanced students - come and join me for a workshop on Ancestors and Ancestral Qi on 1st November. I am doing a deep dive in my preparations for this one!

If you are interested in receiving shiatsu, and a Saturday in Manchester would suit you, we are open for bookings for our student clinic at Shiatsu College, Manchester. We have some free places available for people who are carers, who have been in care, or who are on Universal Credit.

I am quite busy in my client work. I have a waiting list for new clients, but if you have been to see me before, you can make an appointment! If you want to join my waiting list, or get a recommendation for another practitioner, let me know.

I am participating in an interview with the Shiatsu Society (UK) on Tuesday 28th October - if you are a member, you can join us live at 9am - afterwards it will be available on Youtube, so I think anyone will be able to watch it...

We have a Teacher's Training Day for our staff at Shiatsu College, Manchester on Monday, so we will be enjoying sharing our practice together, looking at how we teach some of our practical shiatsu skills, and having a nice lunch and a chat! Great to make time for our own professional development.

Are you a carer, or Care-experienced, or on Universal credit (or similar benefits)? It's that time of the year when we start taking bookings for our shiatsu clinics, and this year we have some funded places for people from these disadvantaged groups. Come along and try out shiatsu for free, in a friendly setting at Manchester Buddhist Centre.

You will get a professional, individual shiatsu session, in a room with 4 or 5 others receiving at the same time. Your shiatsu practitioner will be a Year 3 student or a graduate. The clinic will be supervised by a teacher who is an experienced shiatsu practitioner, who can be on hand if any help is needed.

Here are the dates and times (all Saturdays):
Nov 15th at 10.45, 12, 1.45, 3
Dec 6th at 10.45, 12, 1.45, 3
Jan 10th at 1.45 or 3
Feb 7th at 1.45 or 3

To book your Shiatsu session please contact us via Messenger or email.

Care-experienced means you spent time in a children's home, or you were fostered or adopted as a child.
Being a carer means you care for a member of your family or friend, eg if they have a disability.

And the world turns...
The light at the moment in the woods, and on the Sea, is full of golden sparkle, very Late Summer.
Yet the leaves are turning and the falling away is gathering pace, the pathways are filling up with an array of colourful fallen leaves.
The 'letting go' and 'getting clearer" of the Metal element is here.
Lung and Large intestine really benefit from being worked with at this time.
And if you need a hand, I am here.
Let's let go of that which is not ours, in Beauty.
Love to you

Letting go involves being aware of a feeling, letting it come up, staying with it, and letting it run its course without wanting to make it different or do anything about it.

It means simply to let the feeling be there and to focus on letting out the energy behind it. The first step is to allow yourself to have the feeling without resisting it, venting it, fearing it, condemning it, or moralizing about it. It means to drop judgment and to see that it is just a feeling.

The technique is to be with the feeling and surrender all efforts to modify it in any way. Let go of wanting to resist the feeling. It is resistance that keeps the feeling going. When you give up resisting or trying to modify the feeling, it will shift to the next feeling and be accompanied by a lighter sensation. A feeling that is not resisted will disappear as the energy behind it dissipates.

When letting go, ignore all thoughts. Focus on the feeling itself, not on the thoughts. Thoughts are endless and self-reinforcing, and they only breed more thoughts. Thoughts are merely rationalizations of the mind to try and explain the presence of the feeling.
