SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY
Meet Andy, one of our brilliant Chiropractors 😃👍💪

Andy has over 30 years’ experience as a Chiropractor having gained his chiropractic degree from the AECC University College in Bournemouth. He is a keen sportsman which has led him to diversify to work in sports as well as in general chiropractic practice during his career.

Andy lives in Shropshire with his wife, they both have a love of animals (his wife is a vet) and together they manage a smallholding.

Andy is a former rugby player and his love of rugby took him professionally as a chiropractor to work for an English premiership rugby team for 10 years. He has also worked with professional athletes in tennis, MMA and with other amateur and semi-professional athletes. No longer playing rugby, Andy now enjoys training and participating in endurance events.

Andy will determine the best course of treatment for each individual patient based on his assessments at first visit and the progress they make during treatment. His tailored treatment is likely to include:

🟣 The diversified chiropractic technique - the objective of this is to restore proper movement and alignment to the spine
🟣 Prescribing exercises to aid treatment
🟣 Working with his patients to enable them to reach their optimal fitness levels

Andy works in our Wrexham clinic.

Are you getting ready to Jet off this Summer?

Here's our Three top tips for your back when travelling:

1. Get your joints moving quickly after a flight and walk to arrivals rather than the easy option of a moving walkway.

2. You will be restricted to your seat for most of the flight, but avoid stiffness by doing shoulder shrugs, buttock clenches and foot circles.

3. Choose wisely, buy the lightest case possible that has wheels; hard cases tend to weigh quite a lot before you even start to fill them.

And remember, our team are here whenever you need help. Whether that's getting a treatment before you go to help you relax whilst away, or getting realigned once you are back.

SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY
Meet Kristy, one of our amazing Chiropractors 😃👍💪

Kristy first undertook a degree in medical science before becoming increasingly interested in chiropractic. She studied and qualified at the AECC University College in Bournemouth, gaining a Masters in Chiropractic.

Originally from South Wales Kristy moved back to Wales, the Wrexham area this time, where she met her partner. She is now working part time and her clinical days vary.

Kristy’s approach to chiropractic is to assess the body as a whole to address the root cause of the problem to provide long term results. This approach not only allows her to address the symptoms and pain presented but to treat any problems before they become symptomatic and allows improvement to overall health and well-being.

Kirsty works in our Wrexham clinic.

The summer holidays may have only just started BUT chances are you will be looking for your child's new school bag now to avoid a last minute rush in September.

However, the trendiest bag for school may not be the best option, here's our 3 top tips:

1. We recommend a backpack over other styles of bags as it allows the weight of the bag’s contents to be distributed evenly across both shoulders so the spine is not pulled out of line.

2. Make sure your child doesn't suffer from the "snail effect". Backpacks are often very large, with a lot of room which can therefore be easily be filled with too many items. The weight of a heavy backpack causes a child to lean forward to compensate for the backward pull. The posture is compromised as the neck is extended, and pressure is put on the hips and lower back, causing pain in all of these areas. It’s important to make sure that a child’s backpack is emptied regularly so they’re only carrying items they require on a daily basis.

3. Make sure your child wears their backpack over both shoulders and not slung over one - otherwise the benefits of a backpack won't be realised!

Our team of expert practitioners are here to help - our clinics are open 8.30am - 7pm Monday - Friday and Saturdays 9am - 1pm.

Are you thinking about going camping this summer but don't want to be suffering with your back for weeks afterwards?

Here's 6 top tips from the British Chiropractic Association:

1. Protect your back – Ensure your back is protected against a hard and potentially damp surface by sleeping on a quality approved camping mat or air mattress.

2. Take a pillow, if you are used to having one. A blow-up pillow is the most portable…. even better, take your usual pillow from home.

3. Prep your sleeping area first – make sure to remove large stones or sticks that could dig into your spine.

4.Sleep sensibly – You should endeavour to sleep in a position where your spine is in a straight line as this helps to avoid neck and back pain.

5. Keep hydrated – If it is hot, then you can get very warm ‘under canvas’. Make sure you drink plenty and have a bottle of water available during the night.

6. Lift and carry with care– 60% of Brits believe that lifting and carrying is the most likely cause of their back pain, so take care when loading and unloading your camping gear. Two bags are better than one – If possible, pack your gear into more bags rather than less, so you can distribute the weight more evenly and reduce the strain on your back when lifting and carrying them

Don't forget, our team of expert practitioners are here to help - our clinics are open 8.30am - 7pm Monday - Friday and Saturdays 9am - 1pm.

Why Chiropractors Are So Valuable to Lymph Therapists 🔥🌿👌🏻

In the world of integrative health, chiropractors and lymphatic therapists may seem like two separate disciplines—but together, they form a powerful team. When musculoskeletal alignment meets lymphatic detoxification, the result is a deeply restorative and synergistic approach to healing. Here’s why chiropractors are such valuable allies to lymphatic therapists:

🧠 1. Nervous System Regulation Supports Lymph Flow

The lymphatic system depends heavily on the autonomic nervous system—especially the parasympathetic branch, which promotes rest, digestion, and drainage. Misalignments in the cervical or thoracic spine can place pressure on nerve roots that regulate lymphatic rhythm, particularly near the vagus nerve (cranial nerve X). Chiropractors help release these impingements, restoring better vagal tone and supporting more efficient lymph drainage.

💪 2. Structural Alignment = Better Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump like the heart—it relies on muscular contractions and body movement to circulate fluid. When the spine, pelvis, or ribs are misaligned, posture becomes compromised. This affects diaphragmatic breathing, core muscle engagement, and even the movement of large muscle groups like the gluteus maximus, psoas major, and quadriceps—which are crucial for moving lymph.

Chiropractic adjustments correct these mechanical imbalances, helping the body return to optimal biomechanics, which enhances the work of any lymphatic therapist.

💨 3. Rib Mobility Enhances Diaphragmatic Pumping

One of the most underrated lymphatic pumps in the body is the diaphragm. With each deep breath, the diaphragm acts like a piston, pushing lymph upward through the thoracic duct and into the left subclavian vein. However, if the thoracic spine or rib cage is restricted, diaphragmatic movement becomes shallow. Chiropractors can improve rib articulation and thoracic expansion—making diaphragmatic breathing easier and increasing lymphatic drainage.

🌀 4. Craniosacral & Atlas Work Affects CSF & Glymphatic Flow

Some chiropractors are trained in cranial and upper cervical techniques. These can optimize cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow, decompress the craniocervical junction, and indirectly support the glymphatic system—the brain’s unique waste clearance pathway that functions during deep sleep. For clients with neurological symptoms, migraines, brain fog, or chronic inflammation, this work can be a game-changer.

🔄 5. Chiropractic Care Amplifies Manual Lymphatic Drainage

When a body is neurologically regulated, structurally aligned, and breathing well, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) becomes exponentially more effective. The therapist can work on a body that is already open to drainage—meaning better flow, faster detoxification, and often fewer sessions needed to reach results.

🤝 A Partnership Rooted in Healing

For lymph therapists, partnering with chiropractors allows for a more comprehensive view of the patient’s body mechanics and internal terrain. While MLD and lymphatic detox work with the soft tissues, fascia, and immune system, chiropractic care addresses the skeletal and neurological foundation. Together, they create a holistic treatment plan that honors both form and function.

✨In Summary:

Chiropractors are valuable to lymph therapists because they:
• Support vagus nerve and nervous system regulation
• Improve posture and muscular movement for lymph flow
• Enhance diaphragmatic and rib cage mobility
• Restore spinal and cranial balance to support CSF and glymphatic drainage
• Set the stage for more effective manual lymphatic therapy

This collaboration brings the best of both worlds—alignment and flow, structure and detox, nervous system and immune system—all working in harmony to restore the body’s natural healing potential.
