What a fantastic morning spent enjoying a few rounds of bingo together. Laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of “Bingo!” moments filled the room — it’s amazing how a simple game can bring so much fun and connection.

🍷✨ National Wine Day at Avocet House! ✨🍷

What a wonderful way to raise a glass together! Our activity trolley was beautifully laid out with glasses at the ready and a lovely array of wines waiting to be served. The excitement was flowing before the wine even was!

We kicked off the celebrations in our cinema room with a fun sip-and-quiz session — a perfect blend of tasting and testing our knowledge. There were plenty of laughs, a little friendly competition, and lots of cheerful “cheers!” along the way.

Of course, we made sure everyone could join in the celebrations in their own way. For those who preferred to skip the quiz, our fantastic activities lady toured the home with the trolley, offering drinks and bringing the celebration to them. No one missed out on the chance to enjoy a glass and be part of the fun.

It was a relaxed, sociable afternoon filled with smiles, conversation, and community spirit. Here’s to good company, good wine, and making lovely memories together. Cheers! 🥂

Caring really is a two-way street here at Avocet House 💛

Today gave us the perfect example of how kindness flows in every direction in our home. One of our wonderful team members, Rute, was struggling with a stiff neck — and Margaret was quick to jump in and help with a warm, soothing, gentle massage.

It was such a lovely moment to witness. The care, compassion and laughter that followed truly lifted everyone’s spirits. Before long, word had spread and other staff members were jokingly lining up to be next!

These are the moments that make Avocet House so special. We care for one another just as much as we care for those who live here, and that sense of community and kindness shines through every single day.

Wishing a very special happy 93rd birthday to our lovely Sheila! 🎉🎂💐

Sheila had a truly wonderful day celebrating this incredible milestone. She thoroughly enjoyed opening her beautiful birthday cards, each one filled with thoughtful messages and warm wishes. It was so special to see her surrounded by visits from friends and family, making the day even more meaningful.

Our caring staff made the celebration extra memorable by surprising Sheila with her birthday cake and a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday” — filling the room with smiles and joy.

Sheila told us, “It was wonderful, a great day and lovely cake! Thank you.” 💛

We are so happy we could help make her 93rd birthday such a special occasion. Here’s to celebrating Sheila and the many happy memories she continues to share with us!

Today we were so excited to try out our brand-new scarves during our seated dance routine — and they did not disappoint! 💃✨

There’s something so uplifting about adding a splash of color and movement to our session. The scarves flowed beautifully with the music, bringing extra energy, creativity, and plenty of smiles to the room.

Dancing is such a fantastic way to stay active, boost mood, and connect with others. The best part about seated dance is that it makes movement accessible to almost everyone. Whether you’re standing or sitting, everyone is encouraged to join in at their own pace. We always remind our participants to listen to their bodies, move in ways that feel comfortable, and never push too hard — it’s all about enjoying the moment.

We had an amazing time experimenting with different movements and can’t wait to bring the scarves out again soon! 🎶🧣

Our events are always full of warmth, community spirit and friendly faces — a wonderful opportunity to showcase your products while supporting a great cause. We simply ask for a small donation of £5 per table, which goes directly towards our Residents’ Fund to help create meaningful activities and experiences for those who live with us.

💃✨ We Feel Like Dancing at Avocet House! ✨🕺

Here at Avocet House, barely a day goes by without someone dancing somewhere in the home — and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Music has a wonderful way of lifting spirits, bringing back treasured memories and getting toes tapping all around.

Our fantastic Home Manager, Tracey, and Care Manager, Emma, love nothing more than stepping out of the office, turning up the music and sharing a dance with our residents. It’s these spontaneous, joy-filled moments that make Avocet House such a special place to be.

Here they are enjoying a lovely dance with our wonderful Margaret and Phil — smiles all round and plenty of laughter too! 💕

Because sometimes, the best moments in the day are the ones where you simply stop, hold hands, and dance.

💛 Baking With Love Continues at Avocet House, Tanglewood 💛

The sweet smell of freshly baked shortbread filled the air today as our Baking With Love celebrations carried on! There’s something so special about gathering together to bake — and today was no exception.

As we mixed, rolled and shaped our delicious buttery shortbread, the room was filled with laughter and lovely conversations about baking at home, treasured family recipes and memories from kitchens gone by. One resident had us all smiling when they said, “This is more like a workout! I’ll have arms as big as the Michelin Man soon!” 💪🍪

Everyone did a fantastic job, and we couldn’t wait to taste the fruits of our labour — golden, crumbly and baked to perfection. The pride on everyone’s faces said it all!

A very big thank you to Wendy for lending a helping hand — your support was truly appreciated and made the afternoon even more special.

Moments like these remind us that it’s not just about the baking… it’s about the memories we share while doing it ❤️

💗 Tanglewood’s Got Taste – Baked With Love 💗
Valentine’s Afternoon Tea at Tanglewood

We were so proud to present our Baked With Love Afternoon Tea, specially planned for Valentine’s Day — and what a beautiful afternoon it was!

We had the pleasure of serving couples celebrating their love for one another (complete with dedicated personalised balloons 🎈), friends honouring the special bonds they’ve built, and even welcoming new members of our Avocet Family as they begin their friendship journey with us.

A huge thank you to our amazing kitchen team who did a truly fantastic job (as always!) — they deserve all the credit. From heart-shaped shortbread and brownies to stunning 3D roses lovingly crafted in her own time by our incredible Head Chef (one for every guest to take home 🌹), every detail was thoughtfully created with love.

Love was truly in the air — from the kitchen to the table.

We received so many wonderful compliments, including this beautiful feedback from one of our residents:

“My husband and I would regularly visit London for afternoon tea and I can confidently say this is on par with those. This has brought back so many wonderful memories of those happy occasions. Thank you.”

Moments like these are what it’s all about ❤️
