We have several exciting events happening this December at Avocet House Care Home! Please take a look at the posters below to see some of the festive fun we have planned.

🎄 Christmas Fair – Sunday 14th December
Join us for a magical afternoon featuring a wonderful selection of stallholders showcasing their beautiful handmade crafts. There will also be live entertainment, delicious food and drinks, plus the chance to try your luck with our raffle and tombola!

Raffle tickets will be available shortly. If you’d like to purchase some in advance—or if you can’t make it on the day—please speak to our Front of House team. - If you have any raffle donations to help us raise money for our wonderful residents please bring them in to Avocet and leave with any team member.

Everyone is warmly welcome! Please remember to book in advance by calling the home, as reserving a table ensures you don’t miss out on this special festive treat.

Eyes Down… It’s Bingo Time!
We had a fantastic turnout for Bingo today! The room fell quiet as the numbers began to be called—well, mostly quiet… as always, a few numbers and familiar phrases sparked lovely conversations and memories around the room.

It was Olive who struck lucky first with a line, and she didn’t stop there—she went on to win the full house too! Several players were just one number away, keeping the excitement high right to the end.

Well done to Olive, and well done to everyone for taking part and helping us start the day with such fun and warmth.

Join us for an evening of fun, food, and friendly competition! Enjoy homemade soup with crusty rolls, along with hot chocolate and cake served throughout the event.

Children in Need at Avocet House

We had great fun today helping to raise money for Children in Need! Staff arrived in their pyjamas, donating to the cause, and we enjoyed a delicious bake sale featuring beautiful cakes made by our wonderful kitchen team. Hot chocolates were served in the lounge, along with cakes and biscuits for everyone to enjoy.

There were plenty of giggles and cheers for the staff who got into the spirit by wearing pyjamas, Pudsey ears, or Pudsey t-shirts. We love any excuse to dress up and support worthy causes here at Avocet House!

Please join us on Monday, 17th November at 3pm as we celebrate our 5-year anniversary!

Help us mark five wonderful years of providing care for your loved ones.
We warmly welcome everyone to attend — community members, past and present friends, and families alike.

We’re delighted to have the fantastic Travis Graham joining us for live entertainment from 3pm. There will also be awards, plenty of singing and dancing, and of course a glass of bubbly to toast the occasion.

Quality Time with Jean

It was lovely spending some quality time with Jean today as we tackled her beautiful jigsaw puzzle. Jean certainly likes to challenge herself — she never chooses an easy one! We made great progress, though, managing to complete most of the straight edges.

Conversation flowed as we tried piece after piece, and we were both rather pleased with what we managed to accomplish in such a short space of time. Jean has been left with the challenge of finishing the remaining edge pieces before Lorraine’s next visit in a few days… we’ll see how she gets on!
