I gave up fish for a few years, having watched a few documentaries about the fishing industry it didn't sit well with me. I haven't eaten meat for years but still cook it regularly for my boys. I really missed fish though. I really missed it. And I think my body missed it too! So I now try to eat it little and not too often but to really make it count when I do.

I bought these frozen sardines a while ago,then realised that they needed filetting..and so they stayed in the freezer 😂. On Sunday I put my big girl pants on and, with the help of my gorgeous boy, we deheaded and filetted 24 beautiful sardines.

I marinaded them in sumac, smoked paprika, lemon juice, garlic and olive oil for 3 hours then popped them in the oven. We made a big salad with loads of watermelon and a brown rice, lemon and chickpea salad.

Holy moly ..it was the food of the gods!! And well worth the stinky hands 😂

Ok, so I thought I'd peaked last week with the sweet potato crust...oh lordy, this is a whole other ball game!

For these tarts I made a brown rice crust, using cooked rice, cheese and egg. I lined the dish then made two different tarts, a courgette, pea and mint and a mozzarella, red onion, parmesan and tomato one.

The crust is gorgeous! Crispy, tasty and stays together as you cut it!

You'll need to bake it for 10 minutes before you add the filling, I used cheddar cheese but next time I'm going to add some herbs and minced garlic and maybe parmesan for extra flavour.

Don't ask me for quantities, I just winged it 😅

I am a bit late to the sweet potato crust party but gave it a go yesterday with this beautiful feta and spinach tart.

It's genius!

Grate a sweet potato and sweat it off in a little oil for 5 minutes until it becomes soft, then just line your flan dish with it!

I topped it with feta, spinach, paprika, garlic and egg. The sweet potato caramelized beautifully around the edges 😋

Give it a go, it's a simple, healthy alternative to pastry 🙂

Old School Sunday Breakfast ❤️

We've a full house this weekend, just the way I like it with all the offspring back home for a while, obviously that means I get to feed them up!

Kedgeree is one of those old favorites that I always forget about for months and I don't know why as it's heavenly😋

Perfect autumn lunch 🌰🎃

After a little paddle up the river in the canoe this morning we needed a quick but satisfying lunch!

Acorn squash, halved and filled with Camembert, topped with walnuts and slivers of garlic, drizzled with olive oil and baked for 40 minutes.

Grab a spoon and dig in 😋

We had it with beetroot kimchi, apple slices, oatcakes, salad leaves and celery sticks. It's a wonderfully gooey, cheesy mess with the sweetness of the squash shining through 😍, what's not to love? ❤️
