💎 Melasma usually becomes more noticeable in the summer ☀️ and may improve during the winter months ❄️. It is not an infection; therefore, it is not contagious…
💎 Melasma is more common in people with a family history of the condition.
✨Some triggers include:
-birth control pills / hormone therapy
-exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun and the use of sun-beds can trigger melasma or make it worse
-avoiding the sun, using a sun protector (of at least SPF 30, preferably 50) and using a wide brim hat can help
✨Medical grade at home skincare can be used to help treat melasma
✨There are several in clinic treatments that can be used to help treat it. For example:
A) Specific medical Chemical Peels
B) SKINPEN treatments
C) Specific PRP (Platelet rich Plasma) system that has been proven via medical research to produce effective results.
