We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Craft Gardener to join our team at Roundhay Park, one of Europe’s largest urban parks and one of Leeds’ most iconic public spaces.

📍 Location: Roundhay Park
💼 Contract: Full‑time, permanent
⏱️ Hours: 37 per week
🌳 Salary: £26,403 – £28,142

As part of our Climate, Energy and Green Spaces service, you’ll help maintain high‑quality landscapes, formal gardens, sports surfaces and historic grounds enjoyed by millions of visitors each year.

What you’ll be doing:
🌱 Planting, turf maintenance and caring for formal and informal landscapes
🌱 Preparing land, landscaping, grass cutting and using horticultural machinery
🌱 Supporting gardeners and apprentices through on‑site supervision
🌱 Helping ensure our parks remain safe, welcoming and well cared for

What we’re looking for
🌿 Practical horticultural experience
🌿 Level 1 horticulture qualification (or relevant experience)
🌿 Ability to work independently and as part of a team
🌿 Experience using ride‑on machinery
🌿 A provisional driving licence upon appointment

In dark times, light. Have you heard of the Great Synchronisation? People who want peace on earth will stop at 5pm GMT on 21st March to chant Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. You can do it on your own quietly but Kirtan York would like to bring people together. If you would like to join us, please add your name to the linked form and we will find an appropriate venue in York for the number of people on the list and will let you know. It might be a living room, a hall, a stadium :) depending on how many want to come. It will be a cup of tea, a smile, a sit down and chant. Just 30 mins or so to bring hearts and voices together. Please feel free to share the link with friends.

Community Kirtan at Om: Yoga for the Voice & the Heart
Sunday 8th March 3 til 5pm

At Om Community Kirtan we sit in circle and all are welcome to ‘lead’ a chant/song. There’s also no pressure to do so. There is no right or wrong way to sing kirtan. Kirtan can be breathtakingly beautiful, the music can be stunning and masterful; and it can be cacophonous, dissonant, and almost painful to the ears. Aesthetics don’t matter. All that matters is the spirit, the feeling. Don’t worry about what you sound like, feel whatever you feel, have no expectations, no inhibitions. Kirtan is an oil well digging deeper and deeper into the heart. A power tool of love and longing. A train carrying us home. Make these kirtans your own prayers and use their power to set fire to your own soul. We sing together and each person has a totally unique, individual experience. Yet by singing together we give strength, safety and passion to each other, and give ourselves permission to sing and dance freely, releasing and expressing through our voices and bodies, the emotions tightly locked in our hearts.
