Guess where we are on Monday… one of my favourite towns… Selby ♥️
I used to be a Crime Scene Investigator — or, in old money, a Scenes of Crime Officer.
My job was to attend crime scenes and gather evidence.
At first, it was simply to look… and record.
Then came the detail:
fingerprints, swabs, photographs, footwear impressions.
And I loved this work.
Why?
Because I was slowing down.
I was taking notice.
Can you see the link to my mindfulness work now?
⸻
Of course, this work wasn’t always easy.
Far from it.
I’ve recently been putting some of those experiences down on paper — reflecting on what it meant, what it taught me, and how it shaped the work I do today.
⸻
Through Step Up, we now support people who are:
• not currently in work and looking for opportunities
• thinking about retraining or building new skills
We use mindful and therapeutic photography to help people rebuild confidence, reconnect, and move forward — gently, and at their own pace.
⸻
And the Selby link?
I was posted to Selby for a year — and it was one of my happiest working years.
I loved the people.
I loved the town and surrounding villages.
So it always feels special to be welcomed back.
⸻
If you’d like to be part of it, drop me an email.
(Last time I checked, there were only two places left…)
