Psychological Insights into Coaching Practice Showcase - 30th May 2024
Led by Amelia Hooper (Chair - Stage 3 Psychology/Sport and Exercise Science student) and Dr Tracy Donachie (Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology), the Psychological Insights into Coaching Practice Showcase will take place for the fourth year on 30th May 2024.
The showcase aims to provide a varied perspective on sports psychology, and how it works in practice by incorporating talks from leading sport psychology researchers, academics, sports psychologists, coaches, athletes, and students. We also have our MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology students delivering workshops and our undergraduate students presenting on their sport and exercise psychology dissertations.
Although the conference is primarily aimed at coaches, it will be beneficial for students, researchers, sports scientists, and anybody else who is interested in understanding and applying psychological principles to real-life settings.

Coaches to take part in a focus group
We are looking for coaches who work (or worked) with youth athletes aged 11-16 years on a talent/performance pathway or at academy level to participate in a focus group. The aim of the focus group is to explore coaches’ experiences of working with perfectionistic youth athletes.
Your participation will help the development of a research project exploring the experiences of
perfectionism and mental health difficulties in youth athletes.
This research project is being completed as part of the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training at Newcastle University by Naomi White (Trainee Clinical Psychologist), supervised by me.
If you are interested in taking part in the focus group, please contact Naomi White:
