‘Tis the season to do some emotional heavy lifting

It’s okay if you don’t enjoy the festive period, or it brings more stress and sadness than other times of the year.

Be kind to yourself this season 💚

For so many, having children isn’t something we’re really encouraged to question, it’s just assumed you’ll have them. One day, you’ll have them. That’s the plan.

But that unspoken expectation can leave many new parents feeling blindsided once reality sets in. They don’t doubt their love for their children but they do find themselves wondering why they made the choice, and why it felt like such an automatic one.

Whether you’re child-free, want kids, don’t want them, or already have them and feel unsure of what comes next it’s worth reflecting on the messages you’ve absorbed about parenthood, and what children are “supposed” to mean in your life.

There’s power in pausing, asking, and choosing with awareness - even if that choice ends up being the same one as before.

Babies welcome, and your true, shattered, unkempt self even more so.

I know there are mums out there who feel alone in how they’re feeling, and may not think this is for them. If you know that person, or suspect they may be struggling, please send this onto to them. Sometimes just knowing one person is thinking of us is enough to reach out for help.

Postpartum rage is more common than many people realise. You’re tired, recovering physically, and adjusting to a completely new reality. Add older children, work pressures, or other life stressors into the mix, and it’s no wonder your patience feels thin.

That said, it’s important not to dismiss it. Sometimes, postpartum rage can be linked to postpartum depression or anxiety. If you’re worried this may be the case, reach out to your GP or Health Visitor.

But if you’re simply looking for some coping strategies, here are five ways to manage those intense feelings.

For nearly a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside young people at university as they navigate some of life’s biggest transitions such as leaving home, starting first jobs, exploring identity, figuring out what matters most, and building confidence along the way.

These years are exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. On top of the personal challenges, students today face unstable job markets, rising costs, and an unpredictable political climate.

Supporting students through these moments has always been my favourite part of the job and it’s why I’m extending my affordable therapy offer to help even more young people find their footing, build resilience, and feel confident about the future.

If you’re a student (or know one) who could use some extra support, please reach out. 💛

Some simple things to help regulate yourself. By no means a permanent fix, but good to remember in those moments where you need to focus, calm down, or quell anxieties.

Go on, give them a try and see how you feel after.

Thanks to the local businesses who have agreed to place some in their premises, like ❀ (who, btw, do the best massages in York IMO)

If you’re a business owner and think my offer could appeal to your clients too, drop me a DM and I’ll drop some off. Thank you 🙏
