During IUI, specially processed and concentrated s***m is placed directly into the uterine cavity during ovulation. What is varicocele and how does it affect the male reproductive system?

Varicocele is the abnormal dilation of the veins in the testicles and the s***matic cord, and it is one of the most common causes of male infertility. It is important to note that varicocele can often be asymptomatic.

Causes of varicocele:

Is it possible to choose the s*x of a child during IVF?

When couples come to the in vitro fertilization program, the question about the s*x of the future baby is asked quite often. This is natural - every parent dreams, builds expectations, hopes.

🧬 The s*x of the child is determined at the stage of conception: the egg always carries the X chromosome, but the s***m can carry X or Y.
XX - a girl will be born, XY - a boy. Everything is decided literally at the moment of meeting of cells.

But is it possible to «choose in advance»?
⁣
⚖️ choosing the s*x of the child «at will» is not allowed by law.
An exception is if there are medical indications, for example, the risk of a serious hereditary disease linked to s*x (usually male).

In such cases, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is carried out as part of IVF. It allows not only to determine the s*x, but also to check the health of the embryos at the chromosome level.
