Dealing with Overwhelm
Many people are dealing with overwhelm quietly and without help. This can feel like standing in the middle of a crowded highway, where cars rush past you, and you can't find the way to safety.
Hence, it’s that feeling of being inundated with too many responsibilities or emotions, creating a sense of chaos and confusion.
Moreover, it is like a glass filled to the brim with water, where even a small drop extra can cause it to overflow, the cumulative weight of stressors can lead to a tipping point.
Stress becomes overwhelm when everything feels too much. Very often you are managing the stresses of life but the tipping point can be when a small situation occurs. This is because you have nothing left in your reserves. If not addressed, this can lead to a breakdown, physical or mentally.
This feeling often leads to difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or simply getting through daily tasks. It can feel like carrying a heavy backpack, where every additional responsibility makes it harder to move forward. Depression and anxiety can creep in. Additionally, many people experiencing overwhelm will struggle to sleep well.
Help for Dealing with Overwhelm
Managing overwhelm is essential for maintaining mental well-being. One effective technique is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy can be likened to a guided exploration, similar to a gentle boat ride down a tranquil stream. It provides an opportunity to ease the mind, allowing for relaxation and a chance to address underlying stressors in a calm setting.
As a therapist, I take a solution-focussed approach. Very often, we can work out solutions and helpful ways to navigate life's challenges. Moreover, hypnotherapy may help reframe thoughts about the sources of overwhelm and develop more effective coping strategies. Through guided imagery and relaxation techniques, it aims to create a sense of control and empowerment.
