✨Introduction to Meditation✨

My beginners course starts on Wednesday 5 November for 4 weeks.

Please come and join me for a relaxed and down to earth introduction on how to meditate.

My course is comprehensive and I explain a little of the history, a little of the science and how meditation positively affects your body and your mind. We explore different styles of meditation so you can find what works for you. You will be fully supported and gently guided to build your own meditation practice.

If you have been thinking you would like to find out more about meditation and how it can help you in your everyday life, then please come and give it a try.

Meditation is so simple. It is quiet time with yourself. All that you need is an open mind to try something new.

Everyone can do it, and I am committed to helping you discover what meditation can do for you.

I attended a silent retreat last weekend.
With
9am to 8pm in silence.
We meditated, practiced yoga, rested, walked, sat in Nature, listened to wisdom talks and did not speak, or look at a phone or even know the time for 11 hours!

I thought I would find it really difficult -
It was exceedingly easy! I loved it and could have done longer. The chance to do absolutely nothing except be with your thoughts is not as daunting as you may think. It was surprising how quickly my mind cleared and was able to focus on what I was actually doing, instead of trying to find distractions and things to do.

We were so well held in the space, it was beautifully organised and totally supportive and healing. A very special experience.

In a world where we are continually fed subliminal messages from every media outlet that we should be doing more, achieving more, getting more and being more.

It’s no wonder we feel we are not enough. It’s no wonder we are overwhelmed, running out of time, and self obsessed.

Values are too loaded in one direction. Materialism and Eternal Youth.

There is nothing wrong in chasing those values, however they do not define your success in life.

Your success lies in your very being, your very uniqueness, your connection to your soul. Appreciating every moment, showing kindness, showing up for others, going the extra mile, caring, having compassion, integrity, giving your time -
These are values to be proud of, not falling prey to the pressure of being someone you are not here to be.
Go to bed at night with a peaceful heart that knows, feels and believes you are exactly enough. ✨

Train your brain?

Many people tell me they could never meditate because they have very busy minds.
And I never try to convince them.
I just totally sympathise.
One of my reasons for learning to meditate was my internal talk drove me a little crazy, the noise in my mind could be very overwhelming.

The fact is in meditation, you will never be asked to make your mind empty. You are actually guided to take an intensely close look at exactly what is filling your mind.

To stop a moment and examine all the fluctuations of your incredible mind.

It’s more about emptying your mind of defensive thoughts, past regrets, guilt, procrastination, sadness, a loss of purpose, and instead bringing your focus to what you have control over, what you can change, what you are blessed with.

And you come to see, something that seems so important to you right now, by tomorrow will be forgotten.

Something you are obsessing about will be replaced next week with a brand new obsession.

Meditation is noticing what is going on in your mind, noticing the quality of your thoughts.

Are your thoughts helpful or pointless?

Meditation shows you the way to upgrade your thoughts. Neuroscience proves repeated behaviour builds stronger neural pathways. Given time and practice, meditation can train your brain, to help create new habits where your natural default becomes being more positive, productive and accepting.

It’s not all about emptying your mind.
It’s about improving your mind.
Because your mind matters.

Life is Now

Mindfulness is concentration on what is happening right now.
How you feel right now.
To remind ourselves that everything is okay right now.
Time is passing right now.

It is difficult to live each moment in the now, we find ourselves running back into our past. We forever peer into our future.

We cannot change the past
We cannot know the future

We only know now, we can only react to now, we can only appreciate now.

Slow down, have awareness, have focus, reflect, and you will gain insight.
What is important will become obvious.

Live and love now.

Pure Relaxation

Wednesday 8 October 6.30pm St. Mary Parish Hall

4 week meditation course focusing on YOU

A chance to unwind, relax, reflect in a peaceful, calm environment.

You will need a yoga mat, blanket, bolster and water.

Each session will have a different focus, encompassing breath work, mantra practice and guided meditations.

No previous experience is necessary, just an open mind.

Pretty blown away by all your messages.

💫THANKYOU💫

How wonderful so many of you are interested in learning meditation and continuing your journey with meditation.

I honestly thought no one would respond as I’ve been gone for so long!

I have to admit I struggle with social media, partly as I lack technology skills and partly because sharing aspects of my life feels uncomfortable.

When I enthusiastically embarked on my meditation teacher training I never for one moment thought I’d have to embrace Facebook and Instagram.

I actually tried to launch my first course with paper posters up in Parish Halls and community centres!

But social media isn’t so scary when you create a tiny little community of like minded people and for me the support that I feel, makes me really happy and reinforces my desire to share meditation with as many people that are interested.

Meditation changed my life, I am passionate to share it because I know first hand how much it can help with the demands of life today.

So, again, thank you All very very much for your support and interest and encouragement.

Hi, I’ve not posted in a while, I’ve been quietly healing from too much sadness, quietly loving this Summer and my granddaughter, and quietly teaching meditation💫

Teaching has been an unexpected gift. So grateful to the lovely beings who reached out for help in how to make mindfulness part of their life.
Just everyday people needing help with anxiety, overwhelming work responsibilities, health issues, insomnia, nervousness and indecisiveness. This life is A LOT sometimes!

Becoming mindful and present helped them all.

And sharing the magic of meditation also focused ME, expanded MY presence, reminded ME to steady MY mind and not believe all the overwhelming thoughts of fear and worry that seemed to consume me after the death of my 💙dad.

I’m so grateful, without exception my recent clients just got it, embracing quiet, and stillness and gratitude and seeing how very simple changes in your mindset can change everything outside of yourself.

Slowly, gently, no big deal, no need to document or take photos or share - just getting on with it and feeling the subtle shifts and gentle positive changes over time.
Funny how you get just what you need in tricky times, I have noticed this frequently over the last few years, the wonderfully wierd synchronicities, the new people who just appear to hold your hand for a while. To help you change your pace for a while till you’re ready.

If you have had a curiosity of meditation and what it can do for you, I would love to guide you in how to live a more mindful, present life.

Begin your day with intention.

Set the tone for your future.

If your day starts by jumping into autopilot, repeating ingrained habits - it may help to take a moment to be intentional.

Intention is not an end goal, it is a present moment experience. And so you can remind yourself to change your experience at any moment throughout the day. You just have to remember!

When you wake, take a few breaths, and think about what you need to fulfil your intention.
Start to create your life vision in the quiet and calm space of your rested mind before the chatter of the day intrudes.

Your intention can be small -
maintain a calmness.
be more patient.
enjoy more moments.
make time for special people.
be more disciplined.
be fun.
be joyful.

Any small positive intention

Your intention is for NOW. HERE. TODAY.

Infuse your being with your intention and allow your thoughts and actions to carry your intention through the day.

Change the old, bring in the new.

And as we approach the spring equinox it is a perfect time for new beginnings. 🌼

✨Personal power ✨

We are all a little guilty of blaming outside forces for our lot in life.

If we are honest with ourselves, this is most often not the case.

We just made some wrong choices.
We procrastinated.
We were a little lazy.
We hoped for the best.

Our personal power is phenomenal.
And it is very subtle, not purely strength of mind, discipline and action.

Our personal power lies in our thoughts, our beliefs, our attitude. These subtler aspects of ourselves actually control so much. We do have the power to navigate what happens next.

When we languish in bias, judgement, lack of compassion, self sabotage, low self esteem and a distrust in life - our outward life reflects it all.

This is the root of our inability to see our huge potential. What could be.

Nurture your mind, whatever it takes to see reality clearly.
Refrain from any blame. Looking back, wishing it was different.
Seek positivity and a new path.
Try a different way.

We are all here to make a difference, in our own small way. Never underestimate your own personal power. It is deep within you.

Illuminate your Mind ✨

Existence is complex, there is much we do not understand. The why, the how, the when! Countless intricate details and perfect alignment of events make up our reality.
Complexity gives richness and variety to life, it keeps us on our toes, gives us eternal hope and curiosity and the drive to figure things out.

Complexity is different to complicated. We are responsible for making life complicated.
If you take the time to step back and look at a challenge, very often, we have made it complicated.
We want to be right,
We want to be needed,
We want to prove a point,
We want to walk away,
Therefore, WE create obstacles and problems in our minds. Our( unconscious) choice.

If something is feeling completely overwhelming or unwanted in your life, take time to shine a light on the situation, see that it is you that has made it complicated.

Illuminate your mind, and see reality clearly. Gently unravel your complications.
Refrain from making anything complicated. Go with the flow. And revel in the awe and complexity all around you.

Wishing you all a 2025 filled with happiness.

A long absence from me - and during this time I have been doing a lot of reflection.

My precious Father died in June 2024. An enormous loss in my life, one I had forever feared and dreaded. AND.. within this sadness there has been such excitement for the future. My first heavenly grandchild. Born in October and exquisite in so many ways.

I experience this new love in my life and have been reflective of both being mortal and the miracle of life. The complexity of all of our emotions.

Life is sharply in perspective at the moment, I feel fortunate to have had this recent time to just BE.

So for what it’s worth, I share my musings to take into 2025

Make time to be still and be quiet. It will heal you.

No matter how sad/ stressed/ tired you may feel, happiness is always within your reach.

Forgive yourself for everything you didn’t get quite right in 2024 - move on with purpose.

Be brave with your boundaries. Do not be afraid to speak your mind.

Serve others but do not forget yourself. Both matter. Indulge in what YOU need.

I hope 2025 brings each of you all that you desire, and success in any new challenge you may have set yourself for the future.
