Flying Christine III is a purpose built marine ambulance, fitted with a dedicated patient treatment area low in the centre of the boat to provide maximum patient comfort.

The vessel is fitted with a stretcher and medical equipment which is almost identical to a road ambulance. It also carries a basket stretcher and rescue equipment.

Flying Christine III is a charitable asset funded through a combination of sponsorship, donations, charges and subscriptions.

Flying Christine III has been deployed to Sark twice in two days.

The marine ambulance was requested by the Sark doctor on Wednesday for a patient requiring transfer to Guernsey. On Thursday Flying Christine III responded to an injured patient at the harbour. Following a handover the patient was conveyed to Guernsey with paramedic treatment continuing on the return crossing.

We are very grateful to the volunteer boat crew and for the assistance of the Sark ambulance team.

Ambulance crews were deployed to the harbour yesterday for an injured patient on a ship on the commercial berth.

Due to the location of the casualty the fire service used a turntable ladder to lift the patient safely to the quayside.

The coordination, communication and cooperation between the agencies meant that clinicians were able to provide the most appropriate care and treatment in a safe environment.

The ‘Hierarchy of Road Users’ sets out which road users can cause the greatest harm in a collision, and who therefore bears the greatest responsibility to take care and reduce the danger they pose to more vulnerable groups of road users.

The hierarchy does not exist to blame certain road users, or to make one group seem more important than another. The idea behind it is that each group has some responsibility for the safety of others.

All road users are of course mainly responsible for their own conduct on the highway, but being a considerate pedestrian, cyclist or driver is key to making our roads safer for everyone.

Think of others, don’t rush and don’t lose your temper on the roads. Let's all work together to keep our roads safe.
