In celebration of World Mental Health day, the Mental Health Authority of Ghana in collaboration with GHAFTRAM met with selected herbal practitioners who specialize in treating mental disorders as part of its Mental Health Week Celebrations.

Nana Kissi Opam I - Abidurohene & CEO of Wofa Kissi Herbal Home participated and also shared insights on the role of Traditional / Herbal Medicine Practitioners in promoting mental health in Ghana.

The training programme focused on key guidelines for mental health such as: legal framework, do's & don'ts of managing and treating mental disorders as well as risk assessment and referral of cases.

A few days ago, we participated in an exhibition programme organized by the Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners' Associations (GHAFTRAM) at the Accra Arts Center to showcase herbal products, facilitate networking and educate members on acceptable methods in licensing , manufacturing and marketing herbal products.

Wofa Kissi Herbal Home showcased a variety of products effective against alcohol addiction, mental disorders, epilepsy, stroke etc.

In addition, two bold female volunteers were spiritually interrogated to identify the root cause of their problems and find solutions to them.

Earlier today, I chaired the inauguration of the Technical Committee for Ghana Traditional & Alternative Medicine Awards organized by the Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practioners' Associations (GHAFTRAM) at the Accra Digital Centre.

The Technical Committee which is made up of seasoned individuals from the Centre for Plant Medicine Research-Mampong, University of Ghana-School of Pharmacy, College of Allied & Health Sciences, Ministry of Health etc. will be responsible for the awards programme to be held in October 2022.

The awards programme will recognize & appreciate efforts of herbal practitioners, media partners as well as persons dedicated towards the promotion, advocacy, exhibition, and improvement of quality standards of herbal medicine in our beloved country, Ghana.
