Despite this remarkable success over the last 15 years, AIDS remains the greatest cause of mortality among adolescents in Sub-Saharan Africa, with 22 million HIV-positive persons lacking access to life-saving antiretroviral treatment.
In some areas and among populations that are typically excluded or marginalized, new HIV infections continue to rise.
As an organization, our mission is to reduce HIV/AIDS-related deaths through creating awareness and education. It's important to know the ABCD of HIV/AIDS prevention.
A is for Abstinence!
Abstinence from casual s*x is one of the best ways to protect yourself from HIV.
B is for Being Faithful!
Before engaging in any unprotected interactions it is important to know your status and that of your partner. Following that, there is virtually minimal danger of contracting HIV/AIDS as long as you and your spouse remain monogamous.
C for CONDOMS
Condom usage is a good way to prevent HIV/AIDS especially if you have multiple partners! However, this only applies if used correctly, so it’s important to know how to properly apply and dispose of condoms.
D for DETECT EARLY.
Seek early detection, don't be scared to know your status. HIV/AIDS IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE.
Early detection is prevention and saves lives.
