In a bid to support Ghana's national strategies for addressing breast and cervical cancers, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and partners, is set to roll out HPV vaccination as part of the routine Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in September 2025.

To build capacity for early detection and treatment, the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Health Directorate recently organized a 5-day intensive training on cervical and breast cancer screening for 15 dedicated healthcare providers. The training was a resounding success, with participants screening 167 clients and identifying 11 VIA-positive cases that were promptly linked to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital for further treatment. Additionally, 16 clients received treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Armed with new skills and knowledge, these healthcare heroes are now poised to make a real difference in their communities. Their next task? To advocate for support from their facility management to integrate breast and cervical cancer screening services, bringing hope and healing to countless women in Ghana.
