✨ What is Nevus Sebaceous? ✨

A nevus sebaceous is a type of birthmark that affects about 0.3% of newborns.
🔹 Present at birth, most often on the scalp
🔹 Made up of overgrown skin structures (epidermis, sebaceous glands, hair follicles)
🔹 Appears as a smooth yellowish patch in children, but can become thicker, bumpy, or warty at puberty.
🔹 In darker skin, the typical yellow colour may not be visible, making the lesion appear different compared to lighter skin tones.

👉 While usually harmless, these lesions can occasionally develop benign or malignant growths later in life, which is why expert monitoring is important. Treatment is usually delayed until adolescence, unless there are concerning changes earlier.
