Celebrating 95 Years of Care | 10 Years of Transformation

Shaping the Next Chapter of Health and Hope

On Thursday, 18th December 2025, AGA Health Foundation gathered at a historic Durbar to mark 95 years of unwavering care and 10 years of purposeful transformation—a journey rooted in service, strengthened by innovation, and guided by hope.

At this milestone celebration, AGA Health Foundation shared that advanced discussions are underway with the KNUST Obuasi Campus as part of a long-term vision to evolve the hospital into a Teaching Hospital. This forward-looking ambition reflects our commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery, education, and research, with the vision expected to be fully realised as the Foundation approaches its 100th anniversary. With a few additional facilities required, AGAHF is already supporting teaching and training activities in collaboration with the University.

As Obuasi continues to grow—both in population and economic activity—the demand for quality, accessible, and specialised healthcare has increased significantly. AGA Health Foundation’s expansion agenda is therefore driven not only by ambition, but by necessity: to respond to a growing and diverse client base that includes community members, corporate clients, mine workers and their families, as well as future trainees and professionals. Planned expansion will enhance capacity, improve patient flow, strengthen privacy, and ensure that care delivery remains efficient, responsive, and dignified.

For 95 years, AGA Health Foundation has stood alongside the people of Obuasi and beyond—through moments of healing, times of challenge, and countless quiet victories that define everyday care. Over the past 10 years, transformation has taken centre stage: modern systems, specialised services, dedicated professionals, and a renewed focus on patient-centred care.

This celebration is more than a reflection on the past; it is a declaration of the future—a future where healthcare professionals are trained, lives are transformed, and generations yet unborn benefit from today’s vision. It is a tribute to our caregivers, patients, partners, retired staff, and the resilient communities we proudly serve.

We acknowledge with deep appreciation the partnership and support of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, Ghana Health Service, Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Obuasi East Municipal Assembly, Nananom and Adansiman, Old staff of AGA Health Foundation, AGA Obuasi Mine Contractor Companies, and all stakeholders who have walked this journey with us.

As the drums beat and voices united at the Durbar, one message rang clear:

Towards a Rabies-Free Obuasi: AGA Obuasi Mine and AGA Health Foundation Support Community Vaccination Campaign with 2,000 DosesOn 7th November 2025, AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine, in partnership with the AGA Health Foundation, presented 2,000 doses of anti-rabies vaccines to the Obuasi Municipal Assembly as part of its sustained commitment to public health, disease prevention, and community development.The donation forms a critical component of a wider initiative to make Obuasi a rabies-free municipality. The vaccination exercise will target cats and dogs across all communities, at no cost to residents. This proactive effort is designed to prevent the potential spread of rabies—a preventable yet deadly disease—and to protect both human and animal health in the municipality.During the handover ceremony held at the AGA Health Foundation, the Executive Director, Dr. Kwadwo Anim, emphasized AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s ongoing investment in strengthening community health systems. He noted that the request from the Municipal Veterinary Department was thoroughly assessed and approved in alignment with AGA’s health and safety priorities.“Health and safety remain central to our operations and partnerships. Supporting this vaccination campaign reinforces our shared responsibility to protect the wellbeing of our communities and contribute to a healthier and safer Obuasi.”— Dr. Kwadwo Anim, Executive Director, AGA Health Foundation.Receiving the vaccines on behalf of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly together with other executives, the Municipal Veterinary Officer, Mr. Agyemang Boateng, expressed appreciation for the timely intervention and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring effective rollout.“This donation will significantly strengthen our rabies prevention strategy. With the goal of bringing healthcare closer to the people, AGA Health Foundation – Obuasi, in collaboration with AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, the Otumfuo Foundation, Geocrest, the Obuasi Municipal Health Directorate, and other key stakeholders, held a Medical Outreach (Mini Health Clinic) at Binsere.

The outreach brought essential healthcare services directly to the doorstep of residents, offering free medical screening, counseling, and health education. A total of 1,087 individuals benefited from the exercise — comprising 723 females and 364 males — a clear reflection of the community’s enthusiasm and trust in the initiative.

Participants were screened for various conditions, including non-communicable diseases, breast and cervical cancers, and other health concerns, with referrals provided for cases that required further medical attention.

The event not only strengthened health awareness but also fostered a sense of collective responsibility toward healthier living. Through partnerships like this, AGA Health Foundation continues to champion accessible, quality healthcare and empower communities with the knowledge to make informed health choices.

AGA Health Foundation Extends Care Through a Mini Health Clinic at Wawase

On 15th October 2025, together with AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, Otumfuo Foundation, Geocrest, Obuasi Municipal Health Directorates and other stakeholders, AGA Health Foundation - Obuasi, organized a Medical Outreach (Mini Health Clinic) at AGA Club House- Wawase for governmental security agencies, educational institutions, and the community of Wawase.

Over 800 participants received free screening and education on breast cancer, cervical cancer, and prostate cancer — ensuring both men and women benefited from this life-saving initiative.

The clinic also provided general health screening and counseling on non-communicable diseases, empowering participants with the knowledge to take charge of their health. The impact was deeply felt, as many community members expressed gratitude for the opportunity to access medical care and awareness close to home.
