HEALTH FOR ALL HERBAL HOSPITAL SUPPORTS FREE HEPATITIS B SCREENING IN KWABOANTA FOR WORLD HEPATITIS DAY 2025

As part of activities marking World Hepatitis Day 2025, Health For All Herbal Hospital is pleased to support the Kofi-Pare Health Center with essential commodities to enable a free Hepatitis B screening and vaccination campaign in Kwaboanta.

According to the CDA Foundation, Ghana must find, test and treat at least 460 000 people living with Hepatitis B annually to meet the national and global 2030 elimination targets. Our support is part of a broader outreach effort aimed at contributing to this goal.

Viral hepatitis remains one of the most pressing health challenges of our time, with high prevalence in Ghana. Yet, as of 2023, only 1% of the estimated 2.7 million people living with hepatitis B in the country had been diagnosed. This is deeply concerning.

We therefore encourage all residents of the Kwaboanta community to take full advantage of this free screening and vaccination exercise. Early detection and vaccination remain key strategies in the fight against hepatitis B.

We also take this opportunity to call on the government and key stakeholders to decentralize hepatitis B testing and treatment services to the primary care level, not only for pregnant women but for all individuals. Additionally, we advocate for universal access to the hepatitis B birth dose vaccine for all babies born to hepatitis B positive mothers, as a vital step toward eliminating mother-to-child transmission

Together, we can break the barriers and build a healthier future.

From 2015 to 2024, Ghana recorded 9,880 new paediatric chronic hepatitis B infections.

This alarming figure reflects ongoing transmission of hepatitis B among children, despite the existence of a safe and effective vaccine. It highlights gaps in prevention, especially around birth and early childhood.

At Health For All Herbal Hospital, through our outreach arm, the , we’ve partnered with selected health centers in the West Akim enclave to make the hepatitis B birth dose vaccine accessible to newborns.

We’ve seen firsthand how this simple act can protect infants and stop lifelong infections before they start. If scaled nationally, this approach could drastically reduce new chronic hepatitis B cases in children.

We therefore call on government and all stakeholders to step up efforts to make the hepatitis B birth dose universally accessible, especially for babies born to hepatitis B-positive mothers.

Take the test. Prevent hepatitis. Protect the future.

As the rainy season sets in, we are seeing a rise in cases of Malaria and Typhoid Fever.

Malaria is transmitted through mosquito bites, especially in areas with stagnant water. Typhoid Fever, on the other hand, is commonly spread through the consumption of contaminated food and water.

To protect yourself and your loved ones, we strongly recommend the following preventive measures:
• Sleep under insecticide-treated mosquito nets.
• Boil or treat all drinking water.
• Wash your hands frequently with soap and clean water.
• Eat warm, freshly prepared meals.
• Be cautious with raw foods such as fruits and vegetables. wash them thoroughly or avoid them if unsure of their source.
• Maintain a clean environment to reduce exposure to disease-causing agents.

Stay ahead of the season.
