THE JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS DONATES ASSORTED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO KOMFO ANOKYE TEACHING HOSPITAL
The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has received a significant improvement in its stock of equipment following the donation of assorted medical equipment valued at One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (100,000 USD) from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS Church), Africa West Area.
The gesture was in response to a request for support made to the church by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his flagship initiative, “Heal Komfo Anokye Project HeKAP) aimed at modernizing the hospital.
The items include 10 dual medicine trollies, 15 hydraulic patient structures, 20 patient monitors, 40 cardiac tables, 40 drip stands, and 10 medicine trollies, the rest were 30 wheelchairs, 30 4-folding bed screens, 15 electronic hospital beds, 10 bedside lockers and 15 pieces of crash trollies.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo, expressed gratitude to the Church for its timely intervention. He noted that the donation would go a long way to address some of the logistical challenges being faced by the hospital in delivering efficient and quality healthcare to its patients.
Dr. (Med) Fred Adomako Boateng, the Regional Director of Health Service, commended the Church for its thoughtful gesture and partnership in strengthening healthcare delivery in the region.
“This donation by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is not only a demonstration of goodwill but also a reflection of shared responsibility in ensuring that quality healthcare reaches every Ghanaian,” he stated.
He further encouraged other religious and corporate organizations to emulate this example, stressing that improving healthcare requires collective effort and commitment from all sectors of society.
Speaking on behalf of the Church, Elder Isaac Morrison, Second Counselor, Africa West Area Presidency, stated that the gesture forms part of the Church’s mission to serve humanity and was in line with its believes in showing love and compassion through practical service.
“By supporting the hospital, we aim to help strengthen healthcare systems and touch lives through Christ-like love,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by hospital management, staff, and members of the Church. A brief tour in the hospital was conducted to inspect the donated items.
