Cutaneous Larva Migrans occurs due to the presence of hookworms, which reside in the intestines of dogs, cats, and wild animals. These parasites release their eggs through the faeces of the host animals. When the eggs settle on the ground, particularly in hot sand, the larvae emerge within one to two weeks.

Children are mostly infected when they walk barefoot and sit on the ground. Adults who walk or work barefooted in the sun are at risk of being infected. The larvae pe*****te the skin of unsuspecting individuals, resulting in intense itching, swelling, the formation of red, winding tracks resembling snakes, and the development of large blisters filled with fluid.
Infections are more prevalent in tropical and subtropical areas, For which upper East is of no exception
