Malaria Parasites in Ghana
There are five different parasites but three main parasite species cause malaria in Ghana (Malaria prevalence sentinel sites report)
1. P. falciparum mono infection 97.0%
2. P. malariae mono infection 1.0 %
3. P. ovale mono infection 1.6%
4. P. vivax has not yet been seen in blood films in Ghana
5. P. knowlesi has recently been identified in Malaysia but not yet identified in Ghana
