Hepatitis is a medical condition characterized by inflammation of the liver, which can be caused by various factors such as viral infections, bacterial infections, toxins, medications, and autoimmune diseases.

Types of Hepatitis:

1. Hepatitis A (HAV): A highly contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus, usually spread through contaminated food or water.
2. Hepatitis B (HBV): A viral infection that can cause acute or chronic liver disease, transmitted through bodily fluids, such as blood, semen, and vaginal fluids.
3. Hepatitis C (HCV): A viral infection that can cause chronic liver disease, usually spread through blood-to-blood contact.
4. Hepatitis D (HDV): A viral infection that only occurs in people who are already infected with hepatitis B.
5. Hepatitis E (HEV): A viral infection usually spread through contaminated food or water.

Symptoms:

- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Dark urine
- Pale or clay-colored stools
- Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)

Complications:

- Chronic liver disease
- Liver cirrhosis
- Liver cancer
- Liver failure

Prevention:

- Vaccination against hepatitis A and B
- Practicing safe s*x
- Avoiding sharing needles or other equipment
- Avoiding contaminated food and water
- Maintaining good hygiene

Treatment:

- Antiviral medications for hepatitis B and C
- Interferon therapy for hepatitis B and C
- Liver transplant in severe cases
- Rest, hydration, and nutrition for hepatitis A
