World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is held every 10th of October. It is held to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilise efforts in support of mental health. This year has the theme “Mental health is a universal human right”.

WMHD is run by the World Foundation for Mental Health (WFMH). Partners for 2023 include the World Health Organisation and World Dignity Project.

This year the WFMH wants to ensure that all persons "receive quality mental health care and that the human rights and well-being of people with mental illness are respected in all parts of the world so that every person with a mental difficulty has:

The right to be protected from known harms to mental health; a universal right which applies to the entire population, but especially the vulnerable including children, minorities and the displaced peoples.
The right to access quality and affordable care when a person is struggling with their mental health.
The right to freedom and dignity, including the right of choice.

COVID TESTING REMINDER

This information only applies to BFG personnel and their families who are registered with PRMC.

if you test positive for Covid please do the following:

1. Use the link below to the Lateral Flow Test Self reporting form. No need to complete the form if you test negative.
2. Inform the PRMC via telephone or eConsult.
3. If you have tested positive or have covid symptoms -do not attend the PRMC- unless you are concerned and need to be assessed by a member of the medical team.
4. Isolate for 5 days (from when you first tested positive until further tests return negative). A member of the PRMC medical team will call you daily for a welfare check via telephone -unless you wish to ‘opt out’.
5. If you test positive and have an underlying/chronic condition or are classed as vulnerable, one of the PRMC Doctors will also contact you.
Service Personnel should report a positive test result on their respective sS medical apps (MyNavy, Army Covid Reporting Tool, MyRAF)

PRMC Registered Patients are reminded when registering, to also register with the Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) via the PRMC. The GHA application process can take between 4-8 weeks. If you are newly arrived and have not done so yet, please ensure the GHA registration form is completed as soon as possible.

The GHA are taking a more robust line with regards to patients with expired GHA Cards. With this in mind, if your GHA card has expired, please complete a GHA renewal form and return this to the PRMC reception with the requested documentation (if you had not done so when you initially registered as the supporting documentation is a one off requirement).

It is also important for the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Personnel to register / renew with the GHA via the PRMC and not directly with the GHA.

An expired or invalid GHA Number may result in a delay to treatment / investigations as we are unable to process any GHA requests without a valid GHA Number.

Emergencies will be seen at St Bernard’s Hospital at any time but without an in-date GHA Card you may be charged for the service therefore registering as soon as possible is strongly advised. Please note that you do not need to present your GHA card when attending the GHA as your details together with your card’s expiry date are clearly visible on their system.

Have you ever wondered where all the PRMC teddies come from that we give to the children of the practice, or when they either visit a clinician or come in for vaccination?

TEDDIES FOR LOVING CARE:
Providing teddies for the comfort of children in distress

A hospital/medical centre visit can be a frightening experience for a young child, especially in an emergency situation. Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) is a way of providing much-needed comfort to children, helping to reduce the shock and distress of their experience. Every child that receives a teddy gets to take it home.

Supported by Freemasons
TLC is locally managed by Freemasons who also volunteer their time to run the scheme. Since its inception in 2001, over 3.5 million teddies have been distributed.

We would like to say a huge thankyou to the freemasons of Gibraltar for their continued donation of Teddies for Loving Care over the years.

https://teddiesforlovingcare.org.uk/

Teddies for Loving Care provides cuddly teddy bears to hospitals for medical staff to give, at their discretion, to young children in their care.

The signs and symptoms of meningitis can appear in any order, and some may not appear at all. Early signs can be missed or mistaken for other illnesses, but someone with meningitis can get a lot worse, very quickly, and the disease can be life-threatening.

Meningitis can affect anyone, of any age, at any time. Trust your instincts - if you suspect meningitis, seek urgent medical attention.
