New findings are raising red flags about how too much sugar may be messing with how your brain learns and remembers. While your brain does need glucose to work, consuming large amounts of added sugar over time has been linked to poorer memory, reduced learning ability and subtle cognitive decline. Studies show that people with high intake of sugar-sweetened beverages or processed foods rich in added sugars tend to perform worse on memory tests and learning tasks. The negative effects seem especially linked with the brain’s memory hub, the hippocampus, which is essential for forming new memories.

What this means is that if your diet is loaded with sweets, soda and dessert-type foods, you might be slowly erasing your brain’s ability to absorb new information as effectively. Worse, this doesn’t just affect older adults; the damage appears to begin even in young adulthood when diets are poor.

The message is clear: eating lots of added sugar could be more than a waistline issue, it could be sabotaging your brain’s capacity to learn, remember and adapt. If you want to keep your mind sharp, consider swapping high-sugar snacks for healthier choices like whole fruit, nuts and foods with natural sugars and fiber. Your brain will thank you.

Walking daily or dancing can slash your risk of type 2 diabetes by 74%, new study finds

If you needed a reason to get off the couch, here’s a powerful one: a new study shows that simply adding more walking or dancing to your day could cut your chances of developing type 2 diabetes by a whopping 74%. Researchers looked at how different levels of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, like brisk walking or dancing, affect diabetes risk—even in people genetically prone to the disease. Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, the study followed people over time and grouped them by how many minutes of this kind of activity they did daily.

The results were striking. Those who did more than 68 minutes a day had the lowest risk, with a hazard ratio of just 0.26 compared to the least active group. In simpler terms, this means they were 74% less likely to get type 2 diabetes. Even folks who managed around 26 to 68 minutes daily saw a big drop in risk. What’s more, the benefits held up regardless of family history, offering real hope to people who feel doomed by genetics.

Experts point out that walking is an easy, low-impact way to protect your health, while dancing not only gets your heart pumping but also lifts your spirits and works different muscle groups. Both activities help manage weight, improve how your body uses insulin, and keep your metabolism in good shape—key defenses against diabetes. So instead of dreading huge lifestyle overhauls, think small: a daily walk or dance session might be just what you need to keep diabetes at bay. This study was led by researchers from Sydney University.

Holding back a sneeze may seem harmless, but it can be extremely dangerous. When you stop the natural release of air, the trapped pressure can rupture an eardrum, causing pain and hearing damage.

In some cases, the force can also irritate the throat or burst blood vessels in the brain, eyes, or neck. If a major blood vessel is affected, the result can even be fatal.

To stay safe, it’s always better to let the sneeze out naturally.

‎DO NOT TIE (or Apply a Tourniquet) AFTER A SNAKE BITE: An Important Lesson for Farmers and others Vulnerable

‎The worst thing one can do in nearly all snakebite cases is applying a tourniquet. In cytotoxic bites (90-95% of all bites in Zambia) as well as in haemotoxic bites, they significantly worsen the outcome for the patient. Only in bites from a confirmed Black Mamba, a tourniquet is effective and potentially life-saving, if applied high on the bitten leg or high on the bitten arm.

‎WHY NOT TIE?
‎Cytotoxic venom immediately starts to destroy tissues.
‎We do not want to keep the venom in one area because the damage may be irreparable.
‎The body may never be able to repair the damage.

‎We want normal circulation of the body to take place and the venom to slowly spread.
‎It means the effects of the venom will be DILUTED over more tissue.
‎It means you will have a bigger wound surface but less intense and that will heal much better.

‎If a tourniquet is used on the affected part, the damage may be so bad that sometimes it leads to amputation.
‎You lose a hand or a foot.

‎NON-VENOMOUS SNAKES – DO THEY BITE?
‎Yes they do. But don’t panic. Non-venomous snakes don’t have fangs or venom glands, just small sharp teeth for holding food or defending themselves if you annoy them.

‎Getting bitten by a small non-venomous snake hurts less than a malaria test. You might just get a drop of blood and a cool story to share.

‎But if a big non venomous snake like a python latches onto you? Congratulations, you just got a free body piercing you never asked for. Their bite can be deep, messy and require medical care..
‎So yes, non-venomous snakes bite. No, they don’t have fangs. And if you ever get kissed by one, dont worry you will be fine.

Humans aren't meant to be sedentary.

Your whole body changes when you exercise — right down to your organs and cells.

Exercise doesn't just tone muscles. It transforms the entire body at a molecular level. In a study published in Nature, researchers from UF Health, as part of the National Institutes of Health-funded MoTrPAC (Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium), discovered that virtually all organs in lab rats showed profound molecular changes after just weeks of treadmill training.

Analyzing 19 different tissues, including lungs, spleen, intestines, and adrenal glands, the team identified more than 35,000 molecular features — proteins, genes, and metabolites — that changed as a result of exercise. These findings begin to map out the intricate biological responses that help explain why exercise prevents disease and supports overall health.

Importantly, the study revealed sex-specific responses to exercise and highlighted organ systems often overlooked in fitness research, such as the gut and adrenal glands. Notably, exercise appeared to benefit intestinal health, pointing to potential treatment avenues for conditions like irritable bowel syndrome and chronic inflammation.

The ongoing research will eventually include human trials, but this detailed preclinical data is already available in a public database, paving the way for innovations in preventive health strategies and drug development.

As lead investigator Karyn Esser, Ph.D., notes, "Exercise is an incredibly potent physiological stimulus for human health," and now we are starting to understand just how deeply it affects the body.

Medical Miracle: Baby Born to Mom Who Froze Her O***y When She Was Only 9

An unprecedented event took place last Tuesday, starring 24-year-old Moaza Al Matrooshi from Dubai. Moaza had one of her ovaries frozen when she was 9 years old, making her the first woman to ever have a child with tissue frozen at such a young age.

Doctors who delivered her baby at London's Portland Maternity Hospital said the treatment offers hope to other young women whose fertility is at risk because they need treatment for cancer and other serious conditions.

Moaza was born with a hereditary blood disorder called beta-thalassemia , which can be fatal if left untreated. But because chemotherapy she would undergo at the age of nine would have destroyed her ovaries , doctors suggested removing her right o***y and freezing it in a special laboratory in Leeds. And so it was. The then-little Moaza underwent chemotherapy, as well as a bone marrow transplant, to treat her condition.

Just last year, doctors in Denmark transplanted tissue from the frozen o***y into her left o***y, which had stopped working . A short time later, doctors noticed that her hormones had returned to normal levels, and so she began to have regular periods.

To improve her chances of pregnancy, the 24-year-old decided with her husband to undergo IVF, using her left o***y. So, at the beginning of the year, doctors implanted two embryos into her uterus and… the miracle happened! One of them succeeded and Moaza now has a healthy baby boy!

This is not the first time that frozen ovaries have been used for subsequent fertilization. However, it is the first time that an o***y from such a young girl has been used, who when she was frozen had not even entered puberty yet.

The miracle of technological developments, in fact, does not stop here: Doctors from Edinburgh are currently testing the possibility of freezing s***m from boys as young as one year old, who are at risk of infertility due to health problems.

Moaza's doctor said that within 3 months, the young girl, from the menopausal state she was in, underwent a transplant of the frozen tissue into the "dead" left o***y, which functioned normally again, and so she very soon became pregnant.

🚨In January 2018, this man was rushed to emergency unit with a complaint of lower abdominal pain. Medical examinations were unremarkable. After hours of probing and X ray done, this dumbbell instrument was found in his A**s.

Apparently, he was trying out his new sexual toy on his a**l or***ce. The physicians carefully positioned him and got it removed with conscious sedation.

They are usually very shy to divulge the information on presentation. He was well and sustained no significant damage.

Literature shows that, men has a higher chance of this complaint than women on a ratio of 28:1

It is weekend; the a**l or***ce isn't meant for coitus. It's part of alimentary ca**l. Be careful 🧑‍🦯

An expert speaks...
1 - Do not eat rice everyday but if you cannot, don’t eat it at night [for dinner].

Maintain a good carbohydrate intake.

2 - Exercise daily - walking, weightlifting, running or any form of activity that will get you sweat. If you cannot exercise daily do it more than twice a week.

Don’t drive to the masjid/Church but walk if it is reqchable by foot. And don’t take taxi to the market but walk if nearby.

3 - Do not eat junk or processed foods - expired or not. If you cannot stopped it all, then minimize it as much as you can.

The preservatives aren’t without side effects even when unexpired.

4 - Eat more of the food you cooked and prioritize vegetables and less oily foods [butter, mayonnaise, etc].

Natural keeps the body heathly and less fat means a healthier body.

5 - Limit your sugar intake per day if you cannot, do not pour but count the number of teaspoons and stick to it.

Bread, rice, flour, etc are already too much of sugar consumed for the day.

6 - Good health comes from the habit and bad health also comes from the habit.

Discipline is the keey to longevity!

🩺👶 World’s First P***s Transplant Leads to Fatherhood in Just 6 Months

In a groundbreaking medical milestone, South African doctors performed the world’s first successful p***s transplant—and just six months later, the recipient became a father.

The 21-year-old patient lost his organ during a traditional circumcision ceremony. In December 2014, a surgical team from Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Hospital completed the complex 9-hour operation. Within three months, he regained full urinary and sexual function—and soon after, welcomed a healthy baby.

While not considered life-saving, the surgery had life-changing psychological benefits. Many men suffer deep trauma from ge***al injuries, often facing severe stigma, depression, and even su***de.

Dr. Andre Van der Merwe, lead surgeon, emphasized that restoring this intimate function restores dignity and identity. Using techniques inspired by facial transplants, the team reconnected microscopic nerves and vessels—setting a new standard for reconstructive surgery in regions facing high rates of such injuries.

🧠⚕️ Proof that healing is more than survival—it's restoring wholeness.
