SIX PEOPLE ALLEGEDLY SHOT BY SENEGALESE FORCES!
All six of the injured civilians involved in this afternoon's attacks at Jamine village in Foni bintang, not far from the border, are said to be referred to the Royal Victoria Teachjng Hospital for urgent medical attention, our source following this development have disclosed.
The injured include both Gambians and refugees from neighbouring casamance settlement of Majejam who fled military onslaught within their communities in search for separatist fighters loyal to Paul Bassen, commander of the MFDC-equivalent dubbed Jakai. The victims were on wood fetching exercise this afternoon in the bushes around Jakine, in the Gambia, which lies north, some 1.5km off the border. One is said to be in life-threatening injuries and medical officers at Sulayman Jungung Hospital in Bwiam have to issue them referral to the country's main hospital in Banjul.
Upon hearing news of the fatal incident, the Gambia Armed forces base commander in Sibanor quickly dispatched his men to arrest the situation. Meanwhile, calm has returned within the border villages following the incident but villagers, remain suspicious of a more deadly attack.
Gambian border villages are currently hosting thousands of refugees from affected casamance communities of Kabunkut, Gineya Jarjubeh, Massara, Majejam, Ginounjeh and nearby villages.
