Hello all. For those who've been asking about the streaming link, here are two ways you can watch:

On our page:

https://www.facebook.com/share/12G9RpdaMRp/?mibextid=wwXIfr

On YouTube (where you can also set a reminder to be notified when we start):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjNR1npnwQ4

As the town hall proceeds, you will be able to ask questions either via audio or the comments section.

Please share with anyone you think would like to learn more about mental health in a Gambian context.

Thanks to all those who've reached out to support and encourage us this whole week. We couldn't have done it without you.

Talk to you soon.

Psychosis is often misunderstood and stigmatized. Talking about it helps to dispel myths and create a more supportive environment for people experiencing it.

Join us tomorrow at 4pm GMT, in person at the Banjul National Library or online via the The Alkamba Times live stream, for a conversation about Mental Health Awareness, Perceptions and status in The Gambia.

Autism awareness encourages the recognition of neurodiversity, the idea that neurological differences, including autism, are natural variations of the human brain. Embracing neurodiversity promotes a more inclusive and tolerant society that values the unique perspectives and contributions of individuals with autism.

Day 10 - Recovery and Support

Title: “Healing Is Possible”

For the past 9 days, we’ve talked openly about mental health in The Gambia.

We’ve looked at depression, anxiety, trauma, drug use, su***de, children’s mental health, stigma, and how gender roles shape our struggles. We’ve heard from survivors and caregivers, and we’ve seen how silence and shame hold us back.

Today, we close this campaign with one message: healing is possible.

Mental illness doesn’t mean you’re broken. With the right support - therapy, medication, family, faith, or friendship - people recover. They go to school, raise families, start businesses, and live full lives. Recovery is not easy, but it is real.

Let’s build a Gambia where people feel safe to get help. Where support is available and affordable. And where we treat mental health as a part of health - for everyone.

Join us this Wednesday, May 14 at 4PM for our national Mental Health Town Hall at the Gambia National Library, or online via the Alkamba Times livestream.

Let’s end this week by starting a national conversation.

It can happen to anyone, it’s important that it be said in all languages, you never know whose heart you can touch. Spread the word.
