DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS: LRRPHOA CONVERGENCE IN SOMA DISTRICT HOSPITAL
The Lower River Region Public Health Officers Association (LRRPHOA) kicked off its much-anticipated convergence in grand style at the Soma District Hospital!
Day 1 was packed with impactful and engaging activities:
1. The day began with a vibrant match pass from Soma Market to Soma District Hospital, setting the tone for the event.
2. A formal opening ceremony was held, graced by key dignitaries including the Chief of Jarra West, Deputy Governor, representatives from the Police Commissionerβs Office, WHO Surveillance Officer, NHIS Regional Officer, respected community elders, SAPEH students, the Regional Health Directorate staff, and a lively performance by the Tahir Scout Band.
3. A successful birth registration exercise was conducted to support access to essential services for children.
4. Community sensitization on the importance of vaccination was carried out, particularly targeting hard-to-reach areas within the Soma District Hospital catchment.
5. A live radio health talk show emphasized the vital role of vaccination in disease prevention and child health.
6. The Regional Health Directorate presented key data on public health services, sparking insightful discussions.
7. The day wrapped up on a fun note with a thrilling 5-a-side football match between bachelor and married menβpromoting unity and wellness among health staff and community members.
A great start to a 3 days dedicated to improving health and community engagement in the Lower River Region!
