Today, KGH Management had a fruitful discussion with the Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in the Gambia, Dr. Anaris Martha Odio Mosqueda. Dr. Odio assured KGH Management of her office's full support and promised to post more specialists to the hospital. We believe this will not only assist in improving the quality of care being delivered but will expand the scope of services currently available at the hospital. Also, it will significantly reduce referrals to EFSTH for specialist care. We thank Dr. Odio for her visit and look forward to her continued support and collaboration.

A surgical camp organised in collaboration with Kinderhulp Gambia (Dutch NGO) started last Thursday 10th March, 2022. More than fifty-five Gambian children born with deformed legs (Genu Varum/Genu Valgum) will benefit from life-changing surgical procedures. These children face stigma and discrimination in their communities just because they were born different.
KGH Management and Kinderhulp Gambia are working closely to give the children a second chance to reach their full potentials in life.

Did you know that KGH "One Stop Center" (i.e Clinic for treatment of survivors of domestic and sexual violence) is the busiest in the country? We manage more GBV cases than any hospital/health facility in the Gambia.

We continue to receive and treat GBV cases even in these trying times of COVID-19. According to UNFPA, more countries have reported a surge in violence against women
and girls during the COVID-19 pandemic (UNFPA, 2020).

Today, we congratulate our three midwives who successfully completed a two day training on Clinical Management of GBV cases organised by the Network Against Gender-Based Violence (NAGBV) from 15th-16th June, 2020. Well done Fatou Cham, Suzan Kamara and Kumba Ceesay. Also, we commend our two doctors who were part of the team of facilitators- Dr. Babandiding Daffeh and Dr. Masirending Njie.
