🤝 UniHealth had the honor of joining Angie Kolokousi, Head of the DxHUB Management Team at Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) and Gizeli Biosensors Group, to showcase innovative solutions at this year’s Thessaloniki International Fair (ΔΕΘ)!

Together, we highlighted cutting-edge advancements in , , and One Health applications — bringing science closer to real-world solutions. Angie Kolokousi’s leadership at DxHUB was fundamental in sparking inspiring discussions about the future of health tech and research!

🔬 From nanotechnology and lab-on-chip devices to health and environmental monitoring, our booth was full of exciting demos, and we look forward to many collaborations ahead.

👩‍🔬 On July 2025, Eugenia Papastefanaki visited the laboratory of Dr. Emmanouil Angelakis, Head of the Diagnostic Department and Public Health Laboratories at the Hellenic Pasteur Institute! 🙌
Dr. Mary Emmanouil, Staff Research Scientist A', guided Eugenia and collaborated closely throughout her visit.
The purpose of the research visit was the evaluation of the newly developed assay in real samples– an exciting step forward for the UniHealth Project.

🌍 On 20 May 2025, the World Health Assembly adopted the Agreement – a historic step to strengthen global pandemic , , and response.

➡️ A new Intergovernmental Working Group ( ) will now lead the drafting of the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) Annex. This is a Milestone for Health Security and Global Pandemic Preparedness.
🎯 This also marks a major move toward international collaboration and stronger public health protection.

📍 WP6 meeting 'Social insights into testing and pandemic preparedness' was held in Paris at the Institut Pasteur from 30th June to 4th July.

🧫 🔬 Prof. Tamara Giles-Vernick, Eleana D., Ana Lucia Estrada Jaramillo from the Institut Pasteur, and Prof. Esperanza Díaz Pérez, Prabhjot Kour, and Anders Kuvaas Herting from the Universitetet i Bergen met at the Institut Pasteur to discuss recent advancements in their research.

🧑‍⚕️ 👨‍🦽‍➡️ The main points of the discussions were the acceptance of testing and its implementation in pandemic preparedness, according to the perspectives of the public, healthcare workers, migrants, and older adults in France and Norway.

🏥 🩸 WP6 aims to build acceptance of diagnostic solutions employed at the and capitalize on results obtained from surveillance studies in 4 countries regarding end users’ expectations and accepted means of implementation of devices during a pandemic. This systematic study, addressing a broad group of potential users, will provide valuable input applicable to all diagnostic technologies prepared for application including but not limited to UniHealth project.

The partners identified several similar points between the two countries and outlined plans for future dialogues based on the results.

👩‍⚕️ ✈️ Esperanza Díaz Pérez, Prof. in the Universitetet i Bergen, an indispensable UniHealth partner, travelled to Paris, with the Post- doctoral researcher Prabhjot Kour and the Ph.D. candidate Anders Kuvaas Herting to engage in discussions focusing on public and expert views regarding testing for future use.
⚕️ These novel tools are being developed during UniHealth, aiming to enable societies and developers to better address future pandemics with accepted solutions.

✈️ 🤝 Biopix DNA Technology S.A. traveled to to meet Noklus team and provide training regarding the use of and , two point-of-care analysis instruments for the detection of various viruses. 👏
Noklus will evaluate the analytical quality and user-friendliness of these innovative technology, which will meet tomorrow's needs of a pandemic potential among humans and animals.

The aim is that these devices can be quickly reprogrammed to detect viruses in case of new future pandemics. Noklus will initially investigate the quality of these devices for detecting -19 and , thereby contributing the team's cutting-edge expertise in patient-centric analysis and performance studies to ensure the analytical quality and user-friendliness of the devices.

In addition of the training, Biopix DNA Technology S.A. team gave a lecture at the head office of Noklus, where they presented the company and their contribution to the UniHealth project.

📢 'MENA Region One Health' conference, was held in Tunis on 14–15 June 2025. The conference was hosted by the Government of Tunisia and co-organized by the World Bank and the Quadripartite Organizations: FAO, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), World Health Organization, and the World Organization for Animal Health. This landmark event represented a major step forward in advancing the One Health approach across the region.

🤝 It brought together decision-makers, experts, and leaders to foster collaboration at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.

UniHealth partners from Institut Pasteur de Tunis - معهد باستور تونسProf. ALi BOUATTOUR and Youmna M'ghirbi are in the forefront of approach and participated in the conference and discussed the UniHealth progress.

Tunisia’s Health Minister, Mustapha Ferjani discussed how the ‘One Health’ agenda is key to MENA’s health transformation and how regional partnerships and integrated health strategies are playing a critical role in transforming public health systems across North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.

🏥 🦟 🪴 One Health is an integrated, unifying approach that aims to sustainably balance and optimize the health of people, animals and ecosystems. 😷 The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the interconnectedness of human, animal and ecosystem health ­­— emphasizing the need for a One Health approach that addresses the interconnected risks and vulnerabilities of human, animal and ecosystem health.

📢 UniHealth welcomes the historic decision taken by the World Health Organization during the 77th World Health Assembly: the adoption of a global agreement driven by the goal of making the world safer from – and more equitable in response to – future .

🤝 This is a strong validation of the UniHealth work and a powerful call to continue with our goal- contribute to global and for the next health crisis.

🏥 The agreement aligns closely with the European One Health vision that underpins the UniHealthUniHealth EU project and promotes a coordinated and equitable, preparedness approach.
