2009 – Present Integrative Humanistic Counsellor and Play Therapist Self
employed – Private Practice
I work with a number of adult clients and children. Always under the ethical
framework of PTI and BACP. My basis as a counselor is person centered, however I
like to introduce a variety of therapeutic techniques, CBT, creative, mindfulness. Many of my play therapy cases with young children and teenagers include,
behavioural difficulties, ADHD, depression, drug addiction, sexual abuse, divorce in
parents, communication skills, language difficulty due to trauma, adoption, eating
disorders, trauma, bullying, abuse. Adult clients suffering from, anxiety disorders, depression, bereavement, divorce,
sexually abused (past), abuse in their relationships. However also with clients that
wanted therapy for their own self-development, for example low self worth, self
esteem. Nevertheless, I have worked with parents whose children I see
therapeutically or parents who come in need of guidance for different situations. Moreover I have worked with clients creatively in group settings.
2012-2015 Play Therapist/ Integrative Counsellor visiting trainer at Athens
Synthesis Centre, Athens www.greekta.gr (part-time)
I worked in Athens synthesis centre as a visiting tutor/trainer. Directing seminars and
small courses, for additional development to counselors and those working in caring
departments. Some of these are: “using sand trays as a therapeutic tool”, “creative
counseling skills” for example we worked with clay, art, story telling, puppets. “child
attachment and development”.
2007-2012 Volunteer Play Therapist in the Smile of the Child (Hamogelo tou
Paidiou www.hamogelo.gr ) in Greece
The smile of the child is a non-profit voluntary organization that also runs
Community Homes and raises children of different ages. I worked with the children
as a play therapist I visited the home once a week and had individual sessions with 4
children each time. Later on when I opened my own practice they were able to bring
the children to me. I had occasional meetings with social workers for the best interest
of the children. Most children were abandoned, however many were taken from their
homes, because of parent/guardian abusive behaviour. All children in the home are
traumatized.
